I'm sorry! An apology to a pup owner... Empty I'm sorry! An apology to a pup owner...

Post by asa-james Thu Aug 09 2012, 20:56

I was at the sainsburys today in the little town I work in, and as I walked out there was a woman with a gorgeous tiny pup on the lead. I looked, asked "that's a staff isn't it?" and (this is the the part I apologise for) dived in for a cuddle without asking. I know it's impolite, it annoys me when people do it to Lola, but I couldn't resist!

The lovely lady was ok, and said "it's funny, as a pup everyone wants to stroke them, but when they grow up nobody goes near them!"

Was a really nice part of my day, seeing a happy, healthy, tail wagging, razor needle toothed (yeah she had a nibble) pup out and about Smile

Nearly did this in the pet shop earlier - world's smallest staff pup on a lead - but remembered not to just dive in.
Was about to ask the woman walking him if I could say hello, then realised I was about number 20 in his queue. Lol. The whole shop had stopped shopping and were fussing over him.

I always try to do this unless I already know the dog but sometimes I do forget and usually with a puppy

Again for me I've even almost pulled the car up in the street to jump out and say hello, not a single staffy ever gets past me though I do always ask, but sometimes I'm so keen I'm asking as I'm already going in for the kill Smile

Puppies are so hard to resist. Most owners are keen to socialize their pup anyway and don't mind strangers stroking their pup but it is polite to ask first. If I have my children with me, I always ask, if its just me, sometimes I just can't help myself, especially when they're leaning towards you and obviously just want petting Love Struck

It is great to have a well socialised puppy with all dogs and people alike, I'm also the same must remember to ask first though.

I sometimes forget to ask when it's a puppy, everything apart from oooo cute puppy, goes right out of my head lol. I done it last week when I was out with the girls and saw a 12 weeks old staff pup Blushing

i had some bloke come up to spike and try to pet him without asking and he jumped out of his skin when spike got all excited and jumped at him (to lick him to death), i cant help but smile when i see a staff nowadays, i blame my pooch as i never looked twice at one before him and puppies are just tooooo cute so i can see your predicament...................not done it myself but my OH will cross the road to go in for the pet!!!
