question re entire dog and inseason bitch
LuLu has been in season for almost 2 weeks, but she has been standing for Buster since last Wednesday. Obviously we are not breeding them, so we are keeping a very close eye on them, and when we cant do that they are seperated. The last few days Buster has been a nightmare! He has the attention span of a goldfish and has got REALLY bad with jumping up and ignoring me! Last night at dog training he was the worst he has ever been. He wouldn't listen, when we had to do any walking he was dragging me (and he never pulls for me!) he was far too interested in all the other dogs, and at one point when off the lead he ran over to 2 people and was jumping all over them (literally - the man was sat down and Buster was jumping on his lap and everything!). Darren said that at work he had been a nighmare, and even one of the blokes he sees quite often commented that Buster seems to be playing up more.
When LuLu finishes her season please tell me that he will settle back down!?

It does indeed sound as if his hormones have gotten the best of him.

O gosh. Guess I've got something similar coming my way in a few weeks/months. Really not looking forward to it, but I don't want to snip Maska to early, or at all for that matter.
Will have Loki spayed when she's a bit older

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
To start with he wasnt too bad, just a bit sulky. Every time he was taken out and away from LuLu he was his normal self, but not yesterday!
I dont want to get Buster done yet so I will ride it out, however LuLu may well be booked into the vets! It is something I have always been meaning to do, but I have always worried about her being put under, but I don't think I can cope with this again! Lol.
On a posative note - Buster has been fussing around LuLu this morning but she hasn't stood for him yet so hopefully it will all start going back to normal now! I am lucky in that Lulu's seasons are fairly quick, not sure how I'd manage with a month of it!

I certainly don't envy you, I don't know how I could cope in that situation. His age might have something to do with it too. He's at that teenage stage and couple that With LuLu being in season, its no surprise you're having problems. All I can say is good luck!

He'll go back to normal, don't worry!
I'd take great care for at least the next 10 days, whether her seasons are quick or not. The 3rd week is usually the worst!

Worse?! So you mean the whining, sulking, being naughty, not listening and being a general * gets worse!?
I know they can carry on for a while, and never having a male around before we don't know how long she will go on for, so we will be keeping an eye on them for a few weeks yet. They were never left alone together anyway as Buster can get too bouncy and make Lulu nervous (well, did but now she's turned into a little flirt and wont leave him alone), but now if we watch a film or something they are both seperated. We will keep this up for another few weeks just to be sure
I am glad to know he will go back to normal though

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
A bitch will stand for a dog anything from 9 days into the season (usually the earliest) right until the end, sometimes, which can be 21 days or more. The usual time is around 10 - 15 days from the start of the season. That's just average, though, and each individual bitch will be different!

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
Well she has stood for him today now - it mustve been too early for her before! Lol. She doesn't seem as flirty though. Normally when she is in season she is a right little madam, but this time she has been normal, except for the flirting with Buster.
They never got on brilliantly as Buster can get a bit too bouncy for Lulu, so she normally kept out his way, but now she is all over him, obviously. They have been play fighting and everything. Do you know if, after her season has finished, will she still play with Buster or will she go back to keeping out of his way?

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
the play fighting is just her flirting the little minx lol
more than likely she will go back to keeping out his way when her season over

It'll all probably go back to how it was before.

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
Awww, I'm a bit sad about that I know the play fighting was because she was in season, but I was hoping that she would then realise Buster was gentle with her and when she tells him to stop he does and that it might make her better with him. It is nice to see them playing and getting on. Oh well, at least I can cope with the normality more than this!

Re: question re entire dog and inseason bitch
My Diesel recently finished her second season. With Tank only being a baby at the time we didn't have to worry too much but I just know the next one will be a nightmare lol
Diesel was standing for Tank around day 9 to about 14, then that was it she had a very short temper with him. Tank didn't quite understand it all I think, not once did he try and mount her, Diesel was being a tart tho abc tried to hump him a few times and Tank would run away from her !
