big Hello
Hi, I'm Susie, and my little man is Buster. He is currently 11 1/2 weeks old. He is a loveable bundle of mischief. I have owned Staffs before and my Grandad breed Staffs from Cradley Heath West Midlands. He was part of the club that set the Staffordshire Bull Terriers with the Kennel Club!!!!!! Unfortunately he is no longer with us, so I cannot turn to him for advice on the best way to bring my pup up.
We share our home with my husband, 14yr old son and 5 yr old daughter and the evil arch enemy Gizmo the cat. Buster has been with us for 6 weeks now and is starting to find his place in our hearts and home. He had his first walk out on Saturday and I must admit he did very well. Managed to get him to sit at the kerb!!!!!! Although it didnt stop him pulling all the way.
Busters only naughty bit is the Biting of fingers and hands. Most of the time he tries to nibble but he can get carried away and nip and boy do those teeth hurt!!! I'm clicker training him at the mo and do try to distract him when he starts. I also yelp (my family find this impossible to do for some reason), and telling him "No & Leave". If anyone has any suggestions on other ways that could stop this behaviour it would be gratefully received.
I've tried to put Busters photo on but not sure if it will show.
Speak to you soon Susie & Buster xxx

Re: big Hello
Hi & welcome.
What was your Grandad's name? A bit of history!
Wow, you got your pup young (5 and a half weeks), was there areason for that? He's missed out on a lot of things (like bite inhibition) that he would have learned from his siblings in another 2 weeks or so.
What I do with nipping is say "No" and turn away, stopping all interraction immediately, I don't even look at them. Then if they carry on I put them out of the room for a couple of minutes to calm down.
