Dog from the pound with a problem

I have just got a dog from the Dog pound.... The only problem with it is he has picked up some nasty habits from his last owner..... and I dont know what to do about it...... need some help...

Nothing wrong with that habit - it's when he falls over that you want to be worried, because you'll have to carry him home!
