Re: Catahoula Leopard Dog
I'm not going to purposely xbreed, i am enquiring because a friend of mine asked me to go with him to pick a staff pup, i was unsure that the pups were pure staffy, looked very much right but had webbed feet, no papers available.I have checked internet and i believe CLD's have webbed feet. Just wondered if any one had more info.

Re: Catahoula Leopard Dog
Why on earth would you want to cross a staff with one of these? Recipe for disaster & I certainly wouldn't want to own one!!
Just because they have webbed feet, though, doesn't mean that they are crossed with the Catahoula Leopard Dog. There are other breeds that have webbed feet.

no i dont think so but i would be carefull if you know anyone saying this is the case as leopard dogs or only 1 of 2 breeds that need to be marle in colour
anyone with staffies this colour could have pups with all kinds of health problems

Re: Catahoula Leopard Dog
do you relize how unlikely a mix that would be as there really a very rare breed for this country and if you did own one it would be very unlikely you would breed with a differant type of dog
basically you can cross that xbreed off the list

There are probably fewer than a dozen Catahoula Leopard Dogs throughout the United Kingdom. There's at least one in Wales & two or three in Manchester, btu I can't find details of any others.
They're not a 'recognised' breed anywhere in the world, even in the USA where they were developed.

And even if they were here, and "purebreds" the owners wouldnt be letting them breed with staffys lol

Re: Catahoula Leopard Dog
Catahoula Leopard Dogs are almost always merle, so unless the puppies are merle it is highly unlikely that they are crossed with CLDs. They are also very uncommon outside of the US, so it would be rather odd to have one running around the UK mating with Staffords.

One of my geeky fascinations is genetics and my instinct here would be NO NO NO!
Also see here for info on congenital sight and hearing defects in merle dogs.
