Male or Female??
Was reading in a recent post about the difference in personality, character and temprement between male and female staffies. it just sparked my curiosity as i have always had girl staffs. Have met alot of males and they do seem to be a bit more hyperactive and boisterous but other than that seem to be the same loving, good natured dogs. was just wondering how they differ and what you guys think on the subject? are males more "difficult"??

Re: Male or Female??
Rocky is Staffy cross but he has a very loving nature and spents lots of time cuddled up next to us either in bed or on the sofa. He loves cuddles on the sofa.
He is very protective of me too. If he hears a strange noise outside he will bark at it then run inside and jump up onto my lap to look after me, bless him.
I wouldn't say he has been at all difficult.

I've only had girls, tbh I don't think they differ too much, I think males can be more strong minded, I just prefer Girlys

Re: Male or Female??
I have a 15mth old girl staffy who is what I would call excited but submissive and a 4mth old male staffy who I would say is a heck if a lot calmer !
I think a lot depends on how they are brought up tbh.

Re: Male or Female??
We have Maska (11 month and male) and Loki (13 weeks and female)
In all honesty, I found Maska a lot more easy than Loki. Don't know if she's just a slow learner, but she is nowhere close to him at the same age. She has ornaments for ears, is stubbourn as hell, but she's got a stunning little personality.

I found the males I've had have been stronger minded, but in a way easier to train. As adults the males are easier to live with, generally, and more laid back.

Re: Male or Female??
i don't think there different between sex but i believe all dogs are different i did think girl as a lot calm that before i got billy
Re: Male or Female??
I agree with Steve - I don't think there is much difference and it's more about the individual dog. In our house Bella is definitely more hyper than Teddy - even compared to when he was younger. The other consideration is something that I read about lines. In as much as different lines of Staffies follow different traits - I guess depending on whether they are more bull doggy, terrier etc... I recall something on the internet at one time about the offspring of Gentleman Jim always being calm and tractable whilst the offspring of Bomber (I think) were friendly but excitable and boisterous. I'll see if I can find it again.

Re: Male or Female??
I think in my house it's the other way around. Juno my girl is the hyperactive, boisterous & cheeky one and Jack is a well behaved sook, he doesn't like being naughty and tries so hard to be a good boy Hehe

Re: Male or Female??
I find males easier to train, more obedient, less temperamental and more affectionate. I have nothing against females, just prefer males.

Bandit was descended from Gentleman Jim, and he was never particularly calm or tractable!

Re: Male or Female??
all the females staffs we have ever had where more clam but more posessive and more likely to fight other dogs or growl and bark at strangers... all our males where more bouncy and outgoing and more stranger and other dog tolerant
Re: Male or Female??
great responses guys.very interesting lots of diversity in answers.think there are too many factors to take into account when considering a dogs personality. dont think sex is the most important ether

Re: Male or Female??
I have found my Skye to be a lunatic she is very loving and thinks everyone wants her kisses buster on the other hand is a lot calmer but is nervous aggressive with other dogs (mainly due to who he was with before I rescued him)
