A Poem about staffs
In this poem a mother teaches her pup,
a bit about history and how it should act when it grows up.
Then jumps straight to when the pup is older,
when its master is trying to make him bolder.
Dangerous dogs is what the papers call us,
stories written by people who dont even know us.
We were once bred to be feirce and bold,
by our cruel masters and owners in the days of old.
Days long gone yet still not forgotten.
Some still blame us, and may make you feel rotten.
Full of human love and devotion,
Aggressive? what gives them that notion?
Yes we were bred to fight for the ammusement of mobs
But working dogs would not have survived without doing jobs.
A practise so horrible but we are here by it's grace.
By our masters side and obeying, us staffys should know our place.
Now some people buy us for status and fashion,
taught to guard and defend by fools with no passion.
Once known for our love of man so much,
Now all of us tarred with the same brush.
They want to muzzle us when around children?
We once slept with kids an hour after a dogfight
in which they near killed em'
Barking at man is against our instinct,
Guard dogs? really? is that what you think?
Train us to bite or be nasty,
well that's just an extension of your personality.
IF one of my cousins should dare bite, know this..
poor training, mistreatment or just not brought up right.
Intelligence, fearlessness and loyalty are traits we possess,
love us as we love you and please cause us no stress.
teach us well, be our master, or our social skills may be a disaster.
They no longer fight us, so what is our purpose?
to love of course,...... we have that in surplus.
We had 8 short weeks but mummy taught me well,
i just want to love and adore, cant you tell?
Now you have finished reading this text, there's a little something you should do next.
Smile like a staffy and call their name,
say lets go for a walk, and leave the house without shame.
Each are different, with this you'll agree,
some play chase, others prefer to swing from a tree.
