hi all
i have a staffy aged eight hes a friendly dog and has even goes out with my fathers spaniels but he once got attacked by a dog and after that he has issues with dogs running up behind him well on a few occasions i have passed other dogs of the lead and ask the owner just to keep there dog from running at him well today i asked a fellow dog walker to keep there dogs at bay and he ignored me and a lab cross ran at him so i told the guy to have a bit of respect and that not all dogs are accepting of other dogs and he shouted at me to get a decent dog then i was just wondering if any of you staffy owners ever get looked down on just because of there breed as it made me angry as tye is a gentle dog cats sleep on him ect but to have a guy who had is dog off the lead that runs at other dogs to tell me to get a decent dog made me quite mad to say the least

Hi & welcome.
Yes, you're not alone! Ignorant people often pass stupid comments, but you just have to rise above it!
Your dog sounds a lovely boy - any chance of some pics?

Re: hi all
Hello and welcome
I get comments and looks alot because I have Buster and young children. Not once has he ever shown any signs of aggresion, unlike the spaniels, terriers and various other breeds that have snapped, growled and even pinned him to the floor Unfortunatly it is something you learn to rise above, even though it can get fustrating.
We deffinatly need pics of your boy

Re: hi all
Thats part of why we all get on so well! Many other people will cross the road to avoid, run the opposite direction, and even piddle in there big boy pants when they see us coming. Have to look past it I'm afraid...

Re: hi all
Unfortunately some people are prejudiced; I just try and feel sorry for people like that as they are just ignorant and totally missing out!
You might want to google 'DINOS' (dogs in need of space) there is a UK based website that has a couple of posters you can print out to raise awareness of dogs that don't like to be approached in certain circumstances for whatever reason
