in or out of euro?
in or out
Re: in or out of euro?
Not that I have a vote but I would hope all the countries stay put. If not it could be very damaging for the world economy

Re: in or out of euro?
Yeah but it could start a trend and would definately devalue the Euro. The UK and Germany are the two strong economies using the Euro. If one were to pull out they currency would be devalued and make it harder for Greece and Spain to get out of debt.

Re: in or out of euro?
My concern is mostly selfish. The US banks are heavily invested in Europe and a devaluization of the Euro would hurt their stocks which have just recently started to go back up

Re: in or out of euro?
people in the uk are getting fed up of people who we haven't voted for telling us what we can or cant do there will always going be breaking point when this happens in the world.
Re: in or out of euro?
I certainly wouldn't want us to go into the Euro now. We're better as we are - I have a feeling that the Euro could collapse.

Re: in or out of euro?
Economically we need out we pay a fortune on bailing out poor euro countries - they should have been a hell of a lot more selective and not just tried to become bigger than America. Also we pay a fortune in benefits and health care to "eu citizens" who wouldn't give you their * if you went to their country.
Politically I think it will be disastrous and cost us a lot of exports and possibly raise the price of imports

Re: in or out of euro?
Another thing that annoys me is that here in NI it takes longer for the eu laws to be passed here cause we have our own government so by the time they get passed/accepted the eu deadline is nearly up and we come very close to having huge fines for failing to do stuff. I.e we were asked to decrease the amount of pollution in river but took too long to get the laws sorted out between the two governments in n.i (after already taking ages to get to us from Westminster) that we were about 10 years behind everyone else
Also the eu law are the same for everywhere no matter about the climate. I dunno how that woks as its a he'll of a lot wetter here than south France and Greece!!!
Also the euro would totally destroy the economy. Ruined Ireland didn't it.

Re: in or out of euro?
We can see how it's screwing the rest of Europe and if we all had the same currency then we have a direct comparison on how dear the UK is

Re: in or out of euro?
Do you think that would then in turn make people less likely to emmigrate here or make our prices come down dave?

I don't know about Northern Ireland Hayley (never been) as I believe I heard big problems about cross border shopping between north and south but I know Southern Ireland is exceptionally expensive and makes England/Scotland/Wales look like a bargain. But if you mean about the influx of polish into the UK in general etc , I believe its already happening , I know quite a few of my customers whoise polish contingent have gone home as its more worth their while due to wages etc going up over there. But saying that I'm not so good on politics and base my UK prices around the essentials like cigarettes and alcohol and housing
