New member here :-)
Hi , I'm Greig and this is Katy.
I rescued her 4 years ago after a lifetime being petrified of dogs. Still to this day no idea why I went and got a dog, maybe a midlife thing to get over the fear. Especially one as bouncy and as crazy as a Staff.
She is WAY bigger then the standard, so there is every possibility that she's crossed , but heaven knows what with.
I'm her 4th owner, the previous three just couldn't handle her from what I understand. God knows how I did it, but she's mine, and you'll not prise her from me now.
Nice to be on board :-)

Re: New member here :-)
Bloody hell, you lot are friendly!
I think I just got the forum equivalent of being licked to death :-)
I joined up because she has that annoying habit of s**t eating! Not just hers, any dogs that she comes across in the park etc. It's revolting, and I'd like a quick and easy way to stop it. Answers on a postcard to here, or I will try the forum search facility.
If I can find it?

Re: New member here :-)
Yeah we are a friendly lot I would say that it is something that she will grow out of but since she is 7 that isn't going to happen.
If it were just her own I'd recommend an additive to her food.
If you have her on lead all the time you can carry a water bottle or water gun and spray her when she tries to eat it. That's what we do to discourage Suki eating random odds and ends. Thankfully she has outgrown the poo eating phase.

Re: New member here :-)
She doesn't / would do it on the lead. Wont do it if Im within 50 yards of her either. It seems to come in phases, sometimes she wont bother for months, but the last 3 days walks, she s found tons of the stuff to munch.
Little sod never cleans up her own if she has an accident in the house though!

Re: New member here :-)
We use a long lead for Suki about 20 meters or so, to give her a bit of freedom to run about. I always stay pretty close though just in case she tries to do something she shouldn't.
She also always goes out in a harness and collar so we can change where we put the lead dependant on the area she is walking. If there is unlikely to be an issue we use the harness and let her run free. If there might be an issue we use the collar and take shorten up the leash

We try to be friendly (doesn't always work! ).
Re: the sh1t eating - join the club. Mine will eat anything he finds; cow pats are a favourite (the sloppier the better), but fox/badger/cat poo will do if there's nothing else!
You need to really have a strong "Leave" command or very long arms.

Re: New member here :-)
Welcome! Really nothing to add to Jstaff's suggestions. Sounds like something that will just have to be managed... Had a golden when I was a kid that was terrible with it. Should try and eat it while it was still coming out the other end! I feel your pain. Sounds like your dog is a manageable ont though. Still is nasty. My boys like a ripe cat doo. Monte will sometimes have a go at another dogs too.
