self harming Empty self harming

please help we have a 4 year old staffy he is amazing but when ever we leave him which at most is an hour he bites his paws taking big chunks out and they end up sore and unable to walk him

Sounds like it could be a form of seperation anxiety.

Try just leaving him for a few minutes to begin with, leave some toys for him to play with and possibly leave a radio on for him on quietly.

Built up the time he is left gradually.

Take him out for a good walk before he is left for about 45 mins - an hour and see how it goes.

Is it only when you leave him? Do you ever see him licking/nibbling his paws while you're at home?

It could be just boredom, anxiety or something making them itch like an allergy.

As has already been asked, is it just when he's been left?

How much exercise and/or stimulation does he get each day?

Hi and welcome from us and Suki. If this is a new behaviour it could be from a build up of bacteria on the paws.
