Sitting at the airport
Waiting for my plane to take off. Getting through the ticket counter and security checks was a pain. Can't wait to get back to the house.

Security checks are really time consuming now, aren't they? We nearly missed a plane a couple of years ago because of it.
How far's your home from the airport?

It's about a 2 1/2 hour bus ride depending on traffic and than a short train trip. I should be back by about 7PM Japan time or 15 1/2 hours from now

Yeah the US is very strict. In Japan I can walk in and go through all the checks and be sitting at the bar quicker than I got to the ticket counter here.
Of course it doesn't help that people act like they have never flown before and are surprised they have to empty their pockets or take out their laptops.

Long trip then As a smoker I hate being stuck at airports, as a reasonably frequent traveller I hate being stuck with the noobs at airports too. One of my pet hates is the person that doesn't move all their stuff to the end after their bags have gone through the scanner and just holds everyone up whilst they sort themselves out

Not really. I smoke and use smokeless tobacco as well because I'm often in places that don't allow smoking and withdrawl sucks so I started using the smokeless tobacco as well

ahh just checked , you mean chewing or dipping tobacco right ?? Tried that years ago from some swedish colleagues and it burn the inside of my mouth (no I hadn't lit it ) It just felt really hot and I got a big red blotch on my face. And that was the faggot stuff in the tea bags

Might not be for you than. I think I'd go nuts if I couldn't get any tobacco for 12 hours or so

Not really. There was alot of turbulance and the girl next to me was an unaccompanied minor on her first international flight. She had the window seat and would start to freak out every time the wings wobbled a bit.

I'm mid 30s and I freak out! I just don't think it's natural as I have no feathers. btw, I travel loads with my boss who is Algerian French. he looks like any extremist out there and gets stopped every time. a few times we even allowed extra time for it by turning out early. I also nearly got arrested for once filling up his suitcase as a joke with a spare office keyboard and a packet of sugar. lame I know but we couldn't find flower and random cables .......

I'm pretty luck in a way as the flight never bothers me , I used to ge a bit edgy over all the noises as its taking off etc and the bit where it sounds like the engines have died when it's finished climbing. The turbulance never bothers me unless it makes me spill my beer But the first time I ever flew was in a little highlander when I was doing a Parachut Jump for charity so I only went up and then came down by myself, if I could do that without bricking it I reckon I can prettty much handle most flights.
CMR - sorry but don't really agree with a funny joke like that , next time don't let him get as far as the Airport

Re: Sitting at the airport
I have no real problems flying and am even okay with mid air refuels. I just seem to be very unlucky with the people sitting next to me. They almost always seem to be scared of flying

to be fair I totally agree with you in my private life. at my work however I'm surrounded by ppl that just never grew up and just about anything goes, that above being quite mellow.
