Re: Good On Him
They really are some cheeky F***ers:
‘As it was, the police threatened to arrest me. It has already cost me a day’s work and about £500 to repair the damage. They cut through a metal gate and put their own lock on it.’
How the hell can they get away with doing with. If I was to do something like this I would be inside within an hour.

Re: Good On Him
Someone I spoke to was saying their mate had the same problem on their field. They decided to welcome them to the field by muck spreading the field and all of them and their caravans. Strange how they were gone by the next day!!

I don't understand how they would have had any rights to stay there, makes no sense at all. Good on the farmer.

I am not in the UK and have no real knowledge of the apparent problems you have with travellers. I am sorry, but judging from the derogatory words used in conjuction with this grouping of people, the issue goes beyond property ownership versus squatters rights. From where I sit it looks like there is quite a bit of racism involved. Something we are all too aware of where I live.

Simple facts are Lynne , they are a group of people that although tend to keep extremely clean travelling homes , they just tour the country and decide "this is where we are going to live" be it someone's farm, a bit of common land , a playpark. They leave a dirty disgusting mess wherever they go, intimidate the locals and then generally the crime rate goes upwhen they live in your area . To top all this they don't pay any taxes so for me the feelings are quite strong.

Re: Good On Him
The main problem is when they just take over some poor farmers land. 5 soon become 200 and the poor farmer is unable to work the land he has spent thousands on to get right for growing crops.
Even when they do get them to move on it takes months and by that time the farmer has lost thousands.

Re: Good On Him
I hear what you are saying but the issue is with squatters who just happen to be travellers. I only have an issue with derogatory terms for a group in general.
