Vet thinks Mia is poorly!
Phoned the vet for some friendly advice just now about Mia, and they've worried me so much now.
It started 2 weeks ago, mia had a clear discharge so they gave her ABs for a UTI no change so we went back the necxt week (last saturday) and vet examined her and said she's in season and it's a split season so makes spaying her a bit tricky but nothing to worry about. he also felt and said her cervix was open
So she's had a clear discharge which only shows very slight signs of blood if any at all - it's just been a clear colour to be honest, her teats swelled up (as normal) and her vulva swelled right up!
Last night however the discharge seemed a bit white in colour so I rang the vets today they wanted to me take her for an immediate ultrasound which I tried explaining that I work an hour and a half away and couldn't get there in time, then I felt really awful and then when i explained the whole story again, they said oh ok we'l see her tomorrow, if she's not sick and no other symptoms and is fine and happy in herself!
So now I'm just a little worried hoping it is nothing serious...

Maybe they are just being extra cautious as you have told them about a change in her symptoms. Please try not to worry too much, yes easier said than done I know.

I'd have thought that if it were something really serious it would've escalated by now, as it's been going on for at least 2 weeks.
Could be a UTI, which might need stronger anti-bs?

Yes I was struggling to beleive that it is anything serious, especially as I just phoned my uncle and he said she was out playing with his kids and enjoying herself!!
Anyway she's going in tomorrow morning for a exam and then probs an ultrasound, be nice to know what is actually going on with her!!

Re: Vet thinks Mia is poorly!
vets can worry us sometimes but like the others i am sure they are just being over cautious as her syptoms have changed with bad uti or bladder infections they do tend too start making the dog abit poorly so if she is well in herself hopefully that is a really positive sign please let us know how she is when you find out,one of my bitches had similar and it was a uti plus hormonal change at the same time

Re: Vet thinks Mia is poorly!
Yea she seems fine I got home last night, no discharge she's full of life eating well pooing well playing well and her vulva has gone down considerably, with that in mind I cancelled her appointment this morning because i really don't think she's ill at all.
I'm keeping a close eye on her but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, only that small bit of whitish discharge Sunday night and it didn't smell bad either, think the vets just over reacted tbh

I'd rather the vet over reacted than didn't react at all!
Glad she's good!

Thats good she is ok today. I worry more about the dogs than I did about my daughter. She likes to remind me of this quite often lol. I think it's because they can't tell us how they are feeling.

i agree i think cos as well if they are sick you cant explain to them why and reassure them that they will get better unlike kids
