staffies and the rain
Hi guys hope you and all your doggies are well.
I was just curious i have had staffies all my life and all of my dogs have hated the rain lol
My two girs Ava and Skye literally have too be dragged out and will try too hide in their beds...!!
If i do take them out they try too get back home as quick as possible and sulk all the way around the park.
Is this a staffie trait or are all my dogs just unique

Zeus is exactly the same. Whenever its raining and I tell him to 'go toilet' in the back garden, he'll do everything he can to not go. Until he realises that I'm not going to back down until he does lol
I haven't took him for a walk in the rain yet, I was thinking of doing that sometime soon, but is there a chance he can catch a cold by doing so?

Pixee has refused to walk in the heavy rain, in fact we got as far as the lock, we walk over to reach the canal, and turned back to walk back to our house, only a few yards away. Another time, we got over the lock, to which she just stood there watching me, and sat down refusing to move an inch till I said want to go home, to which she did a quick turn and run over the lock back to our house.

Buster loves the rain, infact it turns him into a nutter and he races round like a tiny puppy again! He also loves going in puddles and streams, but hates both the shower and bath!

Diesel isn't bothered about the rain now but little pup Tank will protest a bit.
When I put him out for a wee in the rain he looks so funny, he does like a John Wayne walk but really fast lol

Jelly won't walk in the rain, but she'll play in it, and she must go out for a wee in it even if i have to pick her up and take her myself. we are going to get her a rain coat, hope that helps! my husband googled it and apparently it is a staffy trait... not sure how 100% accurate that is, but sounds about right considering all the responses!

Leo hates the rain, he wont go out for a wee in the evening when its raining unless I bribe him with a treat and when we're out walking he will try his hardest to avoid puddles, it's quite funny cos he will literally walk to the other side of the just so he doesn't have to walk through a puddle!

Ty absolutly hates the rain he refuses to walk even if you drag him out the house you then have to drag him off the front step then you guessed it drag him up the street and round the park only to be dragged all the way home by Ty. He wont go in the garden to do his business you have to drag him out and stand in the rain with him and wait for him to go he wont even go in the garden if its not raining but the floor is wet from the rain dont think he likes getting his paws wet but as many have said puddles and the sea straight in there lol strange dogs.

Bandit didn't mind the rain as long as it wasn't windy as well. If it was wet & windy he wouldn't budge out of the door unless you pushed him!
Dempsey likes it. But then, he isn't very bright.

Its temperature dependant for Ledger he hasn't had a problem with the rain in the last couple of weeks but through the winter he would just turn to face the direction of home, sit down and refuse to go any further

Monte and Piggie won't go out and have to be picked up and dragged out. Frosty doesn't like it but will go out alright. My bulldog was the same. He would hold it until he was about to burst before he would go out, widdle in the first available spot and charge back in full tilt.

Sophie hates the rain, if it starts raining when we're out she will pull us all the way home.
Having said that if she sees a puddle she has to walk through it.

Pene doesn't like the rain and walks extra fast when its raining. She has a dilemma as she loves to walk but doesn't like the rain. Makes for a very fast walk! Got her a coat a couple of weeks ago, took her for a walk in the rain and she seemed alot more comfortable as only her head got wet. And she didn't pull as she normally would to get out of the rain! ha ha....funny staffies.

Callie hates it. Getting her to go potty while raining quite the challenge.
I posted this once before, so forgive me for repeating myself, but it's funny because she loves coming in the shower with me...bites at the lawn sprinkler...it's a rain thing, not a water thing. You figure it out. Silly puppy.

My nana has a Yorkshire Terrier and she's exactly the same! Becks and Stella used to be like that but we live in England! Where it rains most of the year so i just kick them out and leave them for a bit in the garden. They sit under the trees shaking like ive beaten them! But they soon stop and start playing

Re: staffies and the rain
My Zeus also hates the rain, the dark, the cold or windy weather - he is a big baby if he pokes his head out of the door or window and decides that the weather is not to his liking he won't go out! I have to pick him up and carry him outside sometimes when the weather is cold or wet, and pop him down in the grass to do his wee/business, and he stands there, all pathetic with his tail tucked and his ears down, looking at me with woeful eyes, poor hard-done by baby lol
i have a coat for him for walks in weather that he is not keen on, but even then he does not enjoy it like he does when the weather is fine - i thought it was just my Zeus that didn't like rain or wind, but i feel better now knowing that he is not so different after all

My puppy's learning to go to the toilet outside and he does well, cries when he needs to go out, etc., but I've noticed whenever it's raining outside, he actually pees literally an inch away from the open door. Yep, he hates the rain...yet he loves splashing in puddles. Seems to be a common thing.

Rocky dosn't mind the rain to much because it means there will be a huge puddle in the park car park that we have to splash through. Got told off once about the splashing just said that he made me do it and pointed to Rocky. It all got laughed off quite well.

Daisy doesnt really like rain, she doesnt seem to mind it but does keep looking up at me as if to say 'why are we out in *this*?' She spends most of the time on her walk shaking every couple of metres (it makes for very long walks - in time not distance!)
Bizarrely, she loves puddles in the summer, including wallowing in muddy trenches, and seems to enjoy her showers (particularly as she gets a special treat when she gets out).

Molly very much dislikes puddles and wet patches. She tries to avoid the worst of it and looks miserable on walks. Going to try and get her something warm to wear because she's got so little fur on her belly she starts to shiver on short walks
