sooo many staffys Empty sooo many staffys

Had a first aid course today which finished early so as I was passing some kennels (where we got one of dogs from when I was a kid) I thought I'd pop in just to see.

I broke my heart there Sad 90% of the dogs were staff/staffy x speaking to the owner of the kennels she said that they are pretty much all they get in now. It was crazy the staffs were all so much calmer than any of the other breeds and if I didn't already have Ledger I would have likely come home with a gorgeous ridgeback/staffy x

As I was there I asked if any needed a walk and they said just pick one, I picked a gorgeous red & white 18 month old bitch called toffee she pulled a little to begin but as we came back up the lane she was walking to heel lovely. I know I cant in all honesty have a second dog at the moment but it is sooo tempting to give another one a forever home. They have invited me back with Ledger to walk some of the dogs and see how he gets on but I think that will just cause me to do something I shouldn't

When you can, it is wonderful, but don't do something you know you can't really do right now. It will just make you anxious. I can't look at rescues or I end up with another.

Totally, there was one boxer/staffy x and bless she has just been used as a breeding machine for years and years the poor thing looked so uncomfortable, on her note it said 'believe she has just had a litter'

Just checked back on their website and the girl I walked really needs to be rehomed with her friend nugget so that definitely rules me out of temptation (unless I win the lottery can quit work and buy a big house with lots of land in the countryside)

It's heart breaking isn't it. When we got Maggie there were 40-50 staffies and crosses between their 2 rescue centres. It was a total nightmare deciding which one to pick. The only reason we picked a staffy type dog this time was because there were so many on the rescues. I'm so glad we did. She's be fab gril, well most the time!!!

This is why I can't help out at a rescue centre. Because I would be divorsed now living in a 1 bedroom flat with 50 dogs Laughing
My dog has some dog aggression issues and I have even thought of giving an older staffy a home to teach blue better dog-dog manners, but sometimes I think no it's just better to get him balanced first then get a puppy for a companion. Until I know what I want I won't get another.
I think you have to be 100% certain first. Not easy when you see them sad eyes.
If you do get another.................pics and lots of them Big Grin
