Hi newbie from Kent
Hi, my name is Andy and my staffy is called Woody, we live together in our family home in Kent with my 10month son and my pregnant wife.
We recently lost our Irish Wolf x Staffy, due to ill health, she had lumps coming up all over her body, was fitting a few times a month and had dementia, so with a baby here and another on the way, we and our vet decided it was best for Sox to go to sleep.
But on a lighter note, We was on the look for another dog to fill the space in the family, so set about doing our research into what dog bread is best with kids. Time and time again we got the same answer, Staffy.
so friday i got on the phone to the local rescue centre's looking for a staff, after speaking to a few we decided to go and see some with our son.
The Kennels we when to in Dover, Frandham Boarding Kennels, where great with us, they spoke to us about the situation, the past dog, the kids, the home, other dogs in our area, ect......
The lady there said "one moment i have just the dog your looking for" she brought out this beautiful light brindle Red staffy male, she went on to say "he is a loving dog, great with kids, cats, dogs, all animals and people really an he has had the snip so no litters with next doors Staff Bitch" we all instantly fell in love with him and asked if we could take him for a walk.
Well an hour later we find ourself's filling in the adoption papers and the kennels booked the Vet for his microchip and jabs. We went back up on Saturday to take him out for another walk and so we could all bound with him more, we wanted to go up every day but the kennels where shut for the queens weekend, so we had to wait till yesterday.
We sat in all day waiting for the phone to ring, saying he was on his way home, the vet had been, finally at 4pm this happened and we were all so excited to see the 4x4 pull up outside. The guy from the kennels came in and had a look round and checked to surrounding area, he was happy with the home check and that Woody loved us and we loved him. Finally Woody was here to stay :-)
He came in a settled down really quick, once he had a good look around and met this small fluffy animal called the cat, he just came and sat down with the wife and I for a cuddle. He's had a good night sleep and had a morning walk and now he is crashed out on the sofa with our baby.
Happy Families

Hi & welcome.
What a great intro! Sounds like your son & your son/daughter-in-waiting will have a great companion.
Any chance of some pics?
P.S. Really sorry to hear about Sox's loss. They leave a huge gap in our lives when they go. RIP Sox, run free.

Re: Hi newbie from Kent
Thanks for the welcome, i was really really hard having to put Sox to sleep, but we all felt it was for the best and knew i was the right thing to do, it was Hardest for my wife tho as she had had her from a puppy and they left home and grow up together, but the wounds are slowly healing now we have filled the gap in the family, he was never replace her or our memories of her but he has filled the very large gap she left behind.
The main thing is, Woody is going to grow up with our kids, my son and him already love eachother and follow eachother around the house, He's only been home 17hours !! lol

Re: Hi newbie from Kent
Thanks Steve
Mike, the kennels have been there for bout 6 years now, I didn't know much about them, go did some research on the net and found all good reviews, so we went along for a look round and they came up with our little gem, Woody :-) their website is only a basic few dogs, they got loads there mainly Staffies that they take in as stays and "chav dogs" then retrain them to the family dog they are ment to be. Great family run kennels
you got it in one Caryll, heard that bout Staffies over and over again

Re: Hi newbie from Kent
Thanks everyone for the welcomes
We've had a lovely first day together, we been to see mine and the wifes families with Woody, been and seen the midwifes.
Then we ended the day with a play in the park, we left the little one with his Nanny, so it was just woody, my wife and I, we had a walk around together then we split apart and called him between us, then we got brave and took the lead off and played Fetch with Tennis ball.
Woody was great with us both, running to get the ball and coming back to us, dropping the ball and sitting, waiting for us to throw it again
Once we finished in the park and was on the way back to the car we even crossed paths with Jack russel, off its lead, the JR barked at Woody and he just looked at it and walked by, no barking back or going for it.
He's now curled up on the sofa next to me snoring
We are all just so happy with him and how well he has become attached to us already.

Re: Hi newbie from Kent
Thanks again for more warm welcomes.
Woody is doing great, its like hes always been here !!
He is just soooooo loving, we had a few days when he stayed with my mum while my wife and I took our baby boy away for his 1st birthday, when we got back he was all over us and when my son walked over to him, Woody sat down in front of Caleb and licked him to deaf, my boys love eachother so much, we are all just soooo happy with Woody. dont think we will ever get any other breed then a staffy !!
we are looking at maybe going back to the kennels we got Woody from to see if there are any more staffs we can take on. but that wont be for at least another 6months, as my wife is due with our 2nd child at the end of next month !! :-)
