Ralph
Hello everyone!
Just thought I’d introduce myself and Ralph to you all.
We picked Ralph up from St Helens in Merseyside 5 weeks ago now. He will be 13 weeks tomorrow.
He settled in really well – sleeping in his crate no problems and we are now only having a few little accidents in the house – so the house training is coming on!
We start puppy classes tomorrow too, and are really looking forward to that, although we’ve already mastered sit, down, paw and belly! We’re struggling a bit with the mouthing – he is doing it a bit too hard so are practicing ignoring him until he calms down... just have to be patient and consistent I guess. If anyone has any tips – let me know!
Thanks for reading!

Re: Ralph
Hi and welcome from us and Suki. Ralph look great and sounds like he is coming along well. For the mouthing the best thing to do is turn around and ignore him. He is seeking attention and if you do the opposite he will stop.

Yeah - thats what I thought. The other thing I do is pop him the other side of the baby gate for a couple of minutes... I can see it's improving, but when he gets excited it's worse!
Thanks for your comment!

Re: Ralph
Hi and welcome
With the mouthing I would give a firm NO! to let him know you will not allow him doing it. Don't just turn your back on them as this is the biggest sign of submission and you will be sending mixed signals if you do it before he shows some submissive body language first, like the lowering of the head or turning their head away from you to avoid eye contact. If your unsure if they are showing submissive body language, just give a firm NO! and take a step forward into their space, they will step back and turn away most times.
Not easy though when they are that bloody cute

No - it's not easy is it! Especially when you just want to snuggle them!!
I tried stepping into his space and that seems to be working really well. Thank you for your advice!
