Steve that looks like cellulitis. I hope the GP has given a strong and prolonged course of antibiotic, covering the common skin bacteria causing this. If your dad gets worse he may need intravenous antibiotics in hospital. Keep leg elevated on a cushion when sitting or sleeping. Is he diabetic ? Hope he is getting better.

i had a simular thing a few years ago when on hols off a insect bite was on anti bis for 2 weeks and the pain when walking was quit bad

steve that is weird that is the self same thing that happened to me but they said both things were not connected they put that down to a kidney infection .
keep me informed m8 as i would love to know if i was given duff info doh
