chewing up kitchen :'(
I give Zac the run of the kitchen when we go out but he had started chewing the skirting board, so I used that spray deterrent. Haven't used for a few days and today we go shopping .. less than 2 hours. Come back and he has chewed corner unit of my kitchen units, skirting and door frame.
Guess ill have to start crating him for his own safety as well as my kitchen. He is only ever crated at bed time in our room, do you think he will be ok doing it for when I go out?
Don't want to change his routine but can't have him chewing wood, he could hurt himself.
Advice, suggestions welcome x x

If you are talking about Bitter Apple you have to reapply it every couple of days or the effects will wear off

You could try rubbing some Vicks on to the unit corners/skirting boards. That usually does the trick. But anything you use will wear off sooner or later.
If he's used to being in a crate, then putting him in there when you go out won't be a problem as long as it isn't for too long.

i got the one from pets at home too and it didnt work at all, if anything, zeus liked the taste of it. my friend suggested i spray white vinegar on anything i dont want him to chew, did that and it worked a treat! zeus hates it and stays away from wherever i spray it.
regarding leaving them in a crate, after zeus got used to sleeping in there at night, we started off by leaving him in there for half n hour in the day, then slowly bringing it up to an hour, etc. we now leave him in there up to 2 hours and hes fine, he doesnt mind when we go out, he knows that this is his 'crate time'.

He is used to crate at night so guess he should be ok in day. I haven't left him longer than 4 hours and usually someone is here every day between us.
Thanks both for tips on Vicks and white vinegar. I would rather use them than the pets at home stuff.
Love I x x
p.s I removed Zac from scene of the crime, went for a walk then run around. He is now chewing on a pigs ear rather than my kitchen

Re: chewing up kitchen :'(
what you need to do is have plenty of toys and place them all over the room so when hes done with one he will see another and all also it will be like a game to him.
Re: chewing up kitchen :'(
I think I know why he may have chewed
Usually my routine for Zac when I go out is we put the radio on (he is partial to a bit of Capital LOL), leave treats to find around the kitchen and he has his chew toys. Well I did the first two things and forgot to put his toys in!! They are in his toy box and I just totally forgot!! I guess he was telling me he wasnt happy and made his own entertainment!
Anyway I will also use the spray on the places he chewed and I am going to buy some vinegar and vicks tomorrow and see which works best with us. I have also bought some new toys for him to chew on.
Thank you everyone for your advice and suggestions xxx
