do you find more problems on evening walks?
I had written a whole long rant on the madness that happened on my 2 seperate dog walks this evening but then I thought what's the point as you've all heard it before no doubt lol so I changed it to wondering if anyone else finds that late evening walks are when the most problems and 'situations' occur with their dogs? In my area everything is rosey in the early mornings, polite dog walkers, some dogs have a few issues but then no dog is perfect and the owners always apologise/explain and have a good control over matters. The afternoon walk is pretty much the same. Now then....evenings, Mmm LOL completely different, I get dogs off the leads appearing from bushes to launch surprise attacks, barking, barking and more barking and lunging from all angles. Now as I said regarding the morning walks, no dog is perfect but its how the owners deal with the situation/problem that's makes all the difference for me and in the evenings they are so damn rude, I never get acknowledged, I don't expect apologies for say if the dog on the other side of the road is going ballistic but its really nice when an owner does, no chance in the evenings though for some reason. No idea why. There's never been any serious encounters for me, dog 1 is well socialised and thankfully very balanced and good natured so he's not overly phased by the odd GSD running at him off lead with the owner down the other end of the street, or when dogs give him a verbal battering from the other side of the road. Working hard to get dog 2, staffy Finn, to the same level otherwise there could be probs but I've decided evenings in my area are not the best times lol due to my work I don't have set times to the hour for walking so I'm always seeing different people and dogs, which is good social wise but bad in the sense that I can't spot the 'aggresive' dog in the distance and avoid lol
Anyone else find evenings are worse for dog walking trouble?

There is a park I go too and 9 times out of 10 the people are rude, or they take a wide berth of me lol! Theres one place we go and Moos always off lead and this lady has a really 'precious' dog, very well groomed, that always wants to play with moo, needless to say her recalls pretty pants and both dogs end up covered in mud pmsl! I now look out for her, just to be annoying, both dogs are off lead so its fair game

Re: do you find more problems on evening walks?
Most morning & evening people seem to know me & Dempsey. Some come & chat (after putting their dogs on lead), others go the other way. I get more problems in the afternoon. I take Dempsey out around 3pm to have a good run around with his boomer ball. When he has that he ignores other dogs...............unless they come right over!
I've tried calling out "He's possessive with the ball, so I'd keep your dog away just in case" & that gets no reponse. Now, I just shout "Take your dog away, mine isn't friendly!". Then they look at Dempsey & his size & usually go the other way.
Tonight, though, was an exception. A guy allowed his black lab to come right up to Dempsey and sniff the boomer ball - bad mistake. Dempsey pinned the lab to the ground and just stood over it snarling, and stayed there till I pulled him away. His teeth never made any contact, though.
Some people never listen..................

Yeah they don't listen because they know your dog better than you do lol how did the lab owner react?
Finn wanted to play with a 'precious' toy breed today, and the toy breed wanted to play with him too but was promptly dragged away whilst being told off. I said hello but was ignored. Again. LOL maybe I'm too friendly

I find people on the morning walk are alot friendlier than the people on the night walk. A few will walk the other way of a morning but of a night most walk the other way and if there dog is off the lead and they approche Ty the owner is quick to get over to me to retreive there dog even if they are playing nice the other dog is dragged off without the owner even aknowledging I exist I does my head in!
