Scarletts family secret!
have found out from my friend that lugas dad (scarletts grandfather) is actually a american bull dog crossed with a red nose pitbull, its funny cos i wondered why her dad had a redder nose more than scarletts mum, but luga (scarletts dad) been crossed with a pedigree staffie and american bull dog cross pitbull and now im kinda worried that scarletts going to have the pitbull look as i know its a part of the BSL here in the UK =/
And is there anyway i can find records of scarletts grandfather and grandmother be intresting to really look into

Re: Scarletts family secret!
it's very unlikey she got pit in here her... also i wouldn't go around saying that or you will find yourself in trouble.
an american bulldog x staffie will fall under type, there no way of finding her back ground because she a crossbreed and very unlikey her parent will have papers.

If she's Staffie x American Bulldog then she isn't kc registered. No crossbreed can be registered on the main kc register, only the activity register (ie agility/obedience/working trials etc).

Re: Scarletts family secret!
oh well ive registered with something and gto paper for her thought it looked a bit different to my labs (he was kc registered due to being pedigree) still have his aswell but i deff registered scarlett with soemthing
Re: Scarletts family secret!
its very likey they been made up, the papers wont be with any official club
Re: Scarletts family secret!
i know it came through the post ill have to double check it actually im a bit curious now
Re: Scarletts family secret!
Yes, that's the activity & companion dogs registry. You won't be able to show her at any shows other than companion dog shows & you'll be able to enter her in kc sanctioned obedience/agility shows.
If her grandfather is a crossbreed, then none of his offspring can be registered either (except on the activity register for crossbreeds). If the breeder has shown you full regsitration papers then they have defrauded you.

Re: Scarletts family secret!
her mums a pedigree staffie, and ahaha my bad shes got paper form the vet saying what cross her dad is and info about him like his injections, allergies etc she registered with the vets think she did it just incase scarlett inhertied anything because i know her mum has dust allergie and come sout in hives =/
Re: Scarletts family secret!
Despte the fact that her mum is pedigree, if her father isn't, then she can only be registered on the activity register (which you have done). She cannot have full registration as she cannot be called a pure bred stafford.

Re: Scarletts family secret!
So you basically got your dog from a backyard breeder and put money in their pocket and put their pups in loving homes where other wise those loving homes would go to shelter dogs, congratulation.

Claire, please stop being so judgemental! Many people buy from bybs purely because they don't, at the time, know how wrong it is! Not everybody can get a rescue dog.

There you go again! Just because you know how to do something & where to search etc, doesn't mean everybody else does. And as I said, not everybody is able to rescue.

All you have to do is type in staffy into any internet search engine and you can clearly see all the trouble they are in Caryll, it doesn't take a genius, so enough of the personal attack yet again, when mine was nothing personal once again. I mentioned no names or you(s)

Re: Scarletts family secret!
Hey, it wasn't a personal attack. I'm just asking you not to be so judgemental. I didn't think yours was a personal attack on me, either, why would it be? Just saying that not everybody can rescue, and not everybody knows how to look for problems within the dog world and specifically staffords.
A lot of people when looking for a first dog just see adverts of healthy looking pups & go buy one. Maybe that is wrong, but at the time they don't know that. That's why we give info - to let people know what's wrong with that type of thing, not to be rude to them once it's already done.

The only thing I would say to that is that staffs do have genetic problems & I would say that neither mum nor dad had been tested for those? It's a minefield when you just mate two 'nice' dogs without doing research into possible health problems etc.
Hopefully tou were lucky with Scarlett, but you won't know for sure until she's much older.

Re: Scarletts family secret!
her mum has been hip scored and everything and the only problem that her mum has is an allergy to dust but scarletts fine, as she hides under my OH chair and its very dusty there! and i know her dads been fine she never had any problems and shes having a vet check up in a couple of weeks the only thing scarletts been unfortunate with is a lymphnode infection when she was about 3 months old but was given antis and shes been fine ever since and vets said her skins looking "beatuifully healthly"
Re: Scarletts family secret!
lmjc90 wrote:her mum has been hip scored and everything
What about L-2-HGA, HC, PHPV and PPSC? For both parents. The point I'm trying to make is that unplanned amtings very rarely have health tests in place, because you're not expecting to have to need them!

You are correct research is so uncool these days , I just spent 2 minutes researching this, lmjc90's first post

Although he has agreed to let me have her he has this attitude it will maul anything in its path including my 4 year old son!
The fact is its my best friend who is giving me the pup and i have met father and mother, in all honesty 2 of the most loveley friendly dogs i have ever met in my life! he has also met them and knows they are child friendly, very tame and have a lovely temprament aswell as being stunning dogs!
Anyone have any suggestions on how i can make him understand that this pup isnt going to maul anything or anyone as its not fair to say things like this when he hasnt even seen our pup yet!
Thanks and much love

so plain fact is that if someone checked there facts then Laura is not supporting BYB's it took me 2 minutes to find this information , so please people before you come out with sarcastic or judgemental comments which WERE personal , try checking a few facts yourselves.
And for your own information member X (that qualifies as a non personal comment ) I am extremely educated and have the papers to prove it , yet I wasn't intelligent enough to know what a BYB was and bought Tilly from one , though I didn't come under any disillusions that Tilly was KC registered, but nontheless I only realised the error of my ways after joining the forum and you can't turn back the clock and I wouldn't want to.
However , we can educate people and advise people on here to avoid these mistakes in the future. We are here to help people not to knock them down - sermon over
