I'm with Steve. Blue with blue matings make me nervous because of all the problems that come out of breeding dilutes.

Why would you pay any different amount for a blue than any other colour??

My oh paid £950 for hooch who is a blue - blue, kc reg mating nearly 6 years ago now, he wouldnt go back now but realises they were money grabbers.

I paid £150 for stan hes not kc thou, his mum was black and dad red thou.

Stans the one with a few skin problems.

I would not personally pay anymore for a staffy because of colour and blues dont go for as much now becaus everyones on the band wagon breeding blues.

The price will very much depend on the quality of the parents & their ancestors & the quality of the pups themselves. I wouldn't pay more than £450 unless it was a really good mating, but I wouldn't buy a pup from two blue parents either.

£750 seems to be the going rate for a kc reg blue pup that carriers champions in it's pedigree.

Expect to pay half that for an unregistered blue.

If a breeder is charging more for blues than for any other colour then they should be avoided like the plague. Colour should not be at a premium!

I'm not saying I agree with the pricing of blue registered or not, but whsteva way you put it Blues are very popular thus whilst demand is high prices will remain high.

I'd pick a darker one in my opinion, look for black nose (as close to black as poss) and dark nails too. But, the puppy has to choose you too!

Good luck xx

A good breeder will not charge more for a blue. Only a money-grabber will charge more.

Without knowing the pedigree or quality of parents/pups it's very difficult to say whether or not that price is fair. Whilst I wouldn't buy one because of the colour issues, only you can say whether the price is what you are prepared to pay.

Seems to be a few people suggesting you will get skin problems if both the parents are blue.both my dogs parents are blue and he has no allergies.I had a brindle staff for 12 year with no allergies and bred him with a black staff which produced 2 whites, blacks and brindles.a friend bought a White one which did have allergies so personally I just think it's the luck of the draw,a vet once told me about 9 out of 10 bull terriers he sees not just staffs have some kind of allergy.as for a dark or a light pup it's personal choice, just choose the one you like,as long as theyre healthy.

Nobody is saying that a blue pup from 2 blue parents will definitely have skin problems. BUT, there is a far greater incidence of skin problems in blues in general & blues from 2 blue parents in particular. It's called 'Colour Dilution Alopecia'. And it's a fact.

The women i got stan off tbh looking back was problie a what people would label a byb, but stan was £150 and his red brother £150 she wasnt in it for the money, and my brothers dog was from her also and he was £175 as where the rest of the litter including a blue female.

I would never pay more just because its a certain colour.

Stanlie has the black spots and so does hooch theycome out more in the summer, i assume they are like doggy freccles people with light skin get more in the sun and i think this is the same with dogs????

It's just the black pigment coming through more strongly as he matures. It's quite normal & should level out once he's about 18 months or so.

Piebald/Pied dogs tend to gain more spots as they age. Here is a picture of my boy, Saxon, at 10 weeks or so (picture from his original owners):
