Hello from Washington
Hello all,
Very new to the forum, I have been in search of a good dog for me and my family (which include myself my wife, our 4 year old son, and our 10 month old daughter). After months of researching dogs we have decided to go with the staffy bull terrier. I had a couple questions that i thought the experts here could help me answer, first of all I would really like to go with a breeder just to be sure that i am in fact getting a staffy (dont want to end up with a sixty pounder on my hands), with that I am looking for a good breeder in the Washington state area? Second we dont have any plans on further breeding, how do most breeders feel about spay/neutering? sorry for the lengthy post
any advise is much appreciated.

Hello and welcome from me and Tilly
You may like to read this before you decide either way
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t12763-long-term-health-risks-and-benefits-associated-with-spay-neuter-in-dogs
We had Tilly done a few months ago @ 18 months approx and the best thing we did for her as she went through hell with her season but it has to be your personal choice.
And lastly well done for choosing a Staffy you will never regret it , my OH is a child minder and Tilly is around the kids all the time (but always supervised)

Re: Hello from Washington
Hi and welcome from us and Suki. I'm not sure we have any members from the NW US. A good breeder should be concerned with the individuals ability to care for the dog, home enviroment, handlers experience with dogs and ask you alot of questions. They should also have AKC paperwork for the dam and sire that goes back at least 5 generations.

Hi & welcome!
This may be good as your first port of call - they should be able to point you in the right direction of a breeder in your area....

As to neutering, it is indeed a very personal choice. I don't neuter my dogs, but I know a lot of people wouldn't have the same opinion! You should be aware that there are pros & cons to neutering & should read all you can on the subject. The link given by Dave is an interesting read.
All I would say is that if you decide to neuter, try to wait until your dog is fully mature (with a staff that's around 18 - 24 months).
