Have you tried a very good quality lavender oil ?, it must be a pure essential oil though.

It could be diet related, is there something that has changed in your home environment acting as a trigger ? If his paws are sore could it be a grass allergy. When I lived in South Africa we had flea epidemics every few years and this would cause masses of new skin complaints in dogs. Once they get into the habit of licking an itchy area of skin it can be hard to stop, what about one of those funnels that vets use to stop dogs pulling out their stitches post-operation, can buy here in UK at pet store. Please check with your vet or a reputable site before using homeopathic or natural remedies as some can be harmful to dogs even if safe for humans.
Poor Herman, hope his skin improves.

My staffy has dry skin and I use aqueous cream and distilled tea tree oil water to treat and sooth it. He has a habit of chewing his hind legs.
