Ezydog CHECKMATE Collar
Hi all,
I purchased an Ezydog CHECKMATE collar, which is a half choke collar which I thought I would try with Troy to assist his training with trying to discourage him to pull.
Troy's neck measurement is approx 16" and the Ezydog measurement chart advises:
Medium - 13-18"
Large - 17-26"
I have it adjusted to the smallest size which when fitted is not tight on his neck and seems comfortable. The only thing is, I am not sure if I have the correct size which is the large, as per recommendation from Ezydog.
It does 'check' but I am not sure if it is tightening enough. For example, if I adjust it to the smallest size, put it on my dog and stick my finger between the top of my dogs neck and the collar, I don't feel any pressure on my finger when I pull the collar tight. I have emailed them back because maybe I possibly should of got the medium?
Here is a picture of the collar:
Well we went on a walk with his collar fitted, which is very simple and fast and it just clips around the neck. And the conclusion as to if it works?
Not one tiny bit. He pulled today more than ever. Seeing another dog in the park probably never helped at the start of the walk, as once he gets excited, he usually stays like that for the next 45 minutes until we get home.
He pulled towards dogs, in whatever direction he wanted, walked around in circles and was on high alert and pulling until we indeed got home. It was actually once of the worst walks we have had in recent days.
I have emailed Ezydog to check if I definitely have the right size or not and I'll let you know what they come back with.
Thanks.

Re: Ezydog CHECKMATE Collar
But you state here that you bought a large and Troy's neck is 16" according to your post that should be a medium

Exactly, I emailed Ezydog and they advised on the large.
And why is it awful? It doesn't actually choke the dog.

Re: Ezydog CHECKMATE Collar
Don't mean the collar is awful, I mean how awful for you that you paid for something that did not work

Oh okay, sorry.
Yeah was £15! I have emailed them, there is a chance I should have the medium but they recommended the large!

Hope they reply and you get it sorted out please let us know how you get on cause there is nothing worse than paying for something that does not work, you might as well open the front door and throw the money out the front door

Me too! The large actually might be fine, but I'm not sure. Gonna have another look at it later.

Re: Ezydog CHECKMATE Collar
we use a gentle leader head collar for both the dogs and the results are amazing. My 3 year old could walk both dogs now!

Re: Ezydog CHECKMATE Collar
Read some reviews on them, seems like the really do the trick.
Does it basically pull their head down if they pull?
I am tempted to try one, but don't like the look of it going across the face, gives the impression of having an out of control dog a little bit.
A lot of the time he does walk nicely too, just yesterday and today he has been a little pain!
