My first photography assignment.
My first photography assignment.
So I had my first 'lecture' (waaahaaaay i'm a student !) on Tuesday, I really enjoyed. Although didn't cover too much, 1st lesson is usually the ice breaker, going over the course schedule etc.
So my first assignment is this ..
Joiner Photography.
For those of you who don't know what this is .. I have to take a picture of something / someone, which has to consist of at LEAST 10 pictures. I then have to go and print them 6x5 and buy a thick piece of A3 Card and take the prints and card back to college next Tuesday, where we will mount our image on the card, these photo prints will be mounted in a way that will over-lap each photo, but still show the whole image of my chosen subject.
Here is a joiner photography image from a famous Joiner Painter - David Hockney .. I'm sure you've all seem something like this before :
So my weekend this weekend, is heading out with my camera to find my subject. He did give us a few ideas, but I don't want his suggestions as others will probably so something simular ! I don't want to be better than anyone else, but I want it to be different. It can be big or small, real or not, I'm going to hopefully do more than 10 pictures (I've no idea how big A3 is !), also, photography is all about natural light, so if I was to take a picture of a huge building, I don't need to snap those pictures all at the same time. I could take a few in the morning, afternoon and evening, so you can see how it all patches up with different kinds of natural light !
I was thinking about this big sky-scraper down in the Marina, or, finding my nearest Super Car Garage and asking permission to take some snaps of a supercar .. like a Ferrari or something !
I've not decided yet, but I need to think fast !

Good luck, it sounds fascinating!
btw, A3 is twice the size of A4, if that helps!

A portfolio is probably what you need, its like a giant folder somewhere like Staples should have one or a good artist centre.

Thanks Dave, it's the only thing I've got interested in and am keen to progress in. I'm not very good at finishing off things I start, I lose interest in things very quickly ... explains quite a bit about me I actually But I think this one is the only thing I'm good at .. but with a lot more education on it, I'm hoping something will come of it in the future.
