Re: Not Again.....
Heard it on the radio, the whole story sounded a little OTT in my opinion.

Re: Not Again.....
the onwer has to be looking at a long time inside for something like this surly? why would you have a dog like that for for god sake
Re: Not Again.....
Not sure what to make of it Steve, surely 6 officers could contol a dog? In whatever state.
The owner will get a fine and the dogs already dead.
Us owners will now once again pay the price for another stupid victimise staffy campaigne

Re: Not Again.....
Once again, though, an idiot has control of a pit cross that hasn't been trained/socialised properly - and the newspaper shows a pic of a staff!

Re: Not Again.....
I thought it looked like a rottie or mastive. at 1 point in the vid, it apears the officer had hold of the dog, then the guy in plain clothes started hitting it with a stick

That's the thing, anyone who doesn't know the differences in the breeds are going to think that every staffy they see is 'pit-type' and potentially dangerous. It's irresponsible and misleading on the part of the newspaper and completely infuriating!!!

I get the impression that although they knew there was a dog there, they didn't expect it to be quite so nasty & determined. Once it started to attack, it just wouldn't stop - not easy to stop a large staff-type dog once it gets going.

Re: Not Again.....
We have police that are trained to deal with this sort of situation, they new the guy so they must have known about the dog, whether they new it was aggresive or not.
Doesn't change the fact that its once again another fine, another nail in the coffin and another x breed dead because of the actions of one person.

Re: Not Again.....
Would it be worth contacting the newspaper to set the record straight??

Re: Not Again.....
Probably not, they'll just say that it is their job to get the story out and they've used 'reputable sources' for the pic. It's all *.

Re: Not Again.....
This annoyed me to no end. Obviously the owner wasn't a model citizen and he is probably bragging like * that his dog attacked 5 men at once. This is NOT what the majority of dog owners are like.

Re: Not Again.....
Also, the video the dog looks like it's playing with the firsrt officer...like thats how the owner played with it an expected it to play. If it was severly aggro it would have been shaking and moving a lot more in my opinion..

Re: Not Again.....
The part that sickens me is the where they said they dog was contained and then shot dead...they had no right to shoot that dog if it was currently under control and contained like they said, you just know scum officers probabilly took their time killing the dog (i wonder how many times they had to shoot it before it died). They are only supposed to be able to kill a dog on scene when it is currently out of control, it should of been shot while it was attacking the officers not after wards it should of been humanly pts.

Re: Not Again.....
iv no seen any videos or heard that much about it but was the dog just attacking them or was it protecting its owner? if so the dog wouldnt have know it was the fuzz at the door?

Re: Not Again.....
Apparently it took 4 shots to kill it.
When I saw the video, I noticed there wasn't any shaking either.

Re: Not Again.....
I say this time and time again but dog liciences! For the dogs sake!
Too many people in this country sh*t scared of 'pitbulls' because of all the bs and myth surrounding a quite ordinary dog breed.
Where on earth is Huffington?

Re: Not Again.....
Isnt a dog going to attack if someone breaks into your home and looks like they're gonna harm people! I think mine would tbh and my dog wouldn't hurt a fly! The police always go about doing everythignt he wrong way! and that video tbh i think they just abuse the dog for their own sick fun!

Re: Not Again.....
Wish I hadn't seen this. We have had a lovely weekend with Tinkerbell and for once met some people who loved her and were not scared of her. No douby once word gets around about this then we will get the comments and looks once again.
I have to say I agree though, police who know there is a "menace dog" in a house should really not take the approcah of barging their way in. That's just asking for trouble. And I have to add that they didn't look capable of dealing with the situation. Screaming and running is just going to wind the dog up even more whether it is playing or not.
And it is owners like this that give the poor staff a bad name. What was he thinking calling it "POISON"?!

Re: Not Again.....
They had the equipment they just didn't do their research if they looked back in record it was reported that there was a dangerous dog in the house, the dangerous dog team should of gone, they arrest and capture the dogs and are protected by electric sheilds if the dog charged, once again it all could of been avoiding, either starting with the owner or finishing with the police humanly.
