Re: weighing
Try popping into your local vet and have a go on the scales there. They should have one where you simply walk your dog onto it.

Re: weighing
My vets are the same - there's a set of walk on scales in the waiting room. Anyone can just go in with their dog & weigh it, no problem.
Having said that, my oh weighed Dempsey the other day by standing on the scales & then picking him up. I can't lift him any more!

Re: weighing
That is how we weigh Suki. You should always handle your dog so they are used to it and not uncomfortable or aggressive. This includes handling their paws, ears, teeth and everything else. This way they are used to it and are not adverse to it if there is a medical issue later.

Re: weighing
the scales in our vets are just in the reception so you can walk in put the dog on and walk out. they would rather you do that so the dog is used to place so they arent nervous when needing treatment. the training centre we go to also has scales cos they have a vets surgery there too we stould Lottie on last week and she was 28 but she's a big girl being a boxer cross and fully grown. Lemmy is a little man and when he was chesters age he weighed much the same really so he's doing ok so long as you know he is fit healthy and doesnt look like a little proker he should be fine

Re: weighing
Most pets at home stores will allow you to weigh your dog for free, and I have found scales in some of the other larger petshops around here.
Ask your vet if they do free health checks with a nurse. most will do for puppies as its another way of getting them used to the vets in a nice way.
I generally weigh marley the way you did though and its always pretty accurate

Re: weighing
I always pop into the vet for thewalk on scales. Fortunately it is around the corner. Ty is now 24kg and far to heavy for me to pick up. I had no choice the other day as there was broken glass all over the pavement and I had to carry him over it. Almost broke my back!

Romeo hates those scales and has a shaking fit! They should have one where you simply walk your dog onto it.
I can just about still pick Romeo up.
I'm stronger then you Lynne!Ty is now 24kg and far to heavy for me to pick up
I wouldn't worry too much about his weight till he's a year old. 17kg could mean anything at that age really. How tall is he, whats his build etc. He has a lot of growing still to do.

Re: weighing
Pixee is 17.2kg, well she was a month ago, and I have been told not to let her get any heavier, as she is the perfect weight.
