IPad 2 help
we are on our 3rd IPAD 2, having taken the other 2 back, this one has behaved itself since July last year, now it is having the same problem
when on the internet, it loses its connection and says cannot connect to the server (or something like that)
we have to reset the network settings and it is OK for 30 mins and does this again.
anybody know whats wrong, I know this is a common problem with ipads but wondered why it has just started doing it, i cant face going to the apple shop its worse than Ikea
Hopefully someone can help

Re: IPad 2 help
Hmm strange that, my sisters hasn't had any problems with hers, she's had it since christmas. Where did you purchase it from ? Are other wireless devices having the same issue ?

Re: IPad 2 help
we have a pc/laptop/iphone/itouch and none of them are having a problem
just the ipad, this is the 3rd one we have had with this problem got it from the apple shop
i googled this and apparently it is a problem with ipads there is a forum that is 38 pages long last time i looked about this problem.
but just wondered why it has just started, is it something we have loaded on there,

Re: IPad 2 help
Does sound odd, must admit I've not heard of this issue on the iPad. Have you tried resetting the network settings on the iPad ? I would doubt it's anything you have loaded on there.

Re: IPad 2 help
Yikes! We have never had that. My iPhone needs to have network settings reset every now and then but nothing like that with iPad, iPad 2 and hopefully not with my new one... I'd take it in.

I never has a problem with any product or advice from apple
Geniuses. I've had them all from iPhone 3-4s iPad 1-3. So far my 3 is noticeably faster to launch execute and browse. Haven't tried the 4g LTE yet but people I know are getting 12-15 MBPS downloads so I won't common about that!

Re: IPad 2 help
Lynne, you might have to do a total recovery from scratch. It can happen that somewhere along the way the scripting got corrupted and if you restore from backup you just put it back in there. However if you start fresh, redownload your apps and files, my guess is that all will be well again. I doubt it is a hardware issue.

Re: IPad 2 help
If you mean a netbook I wouldn't advise one of them for regular / constant Internet use.

Re: IPad 2 help
I think you will find the problem is with your router and the iPad syncing with each other. I ran some tests with 3 new Ipad 2s with two different ADSL routers. (office environment) all 3 did not like the first router, switched to router 2 and happy days all-round. All the iPads were left constantly on BBC news page. One other thing I tried with the first router I set it only to Wireless G standard and not mixed B/G/N and noticed improvement.
I would recommend changing the wireless settings in your router to just G standard and also to an non overlaping channel 1/6/11/14 but this is dependant on your router. Hope it helps, PM or post back if you would like some help on how to do this.

Re: IPad 2 help
OK no problem. First off: I need to know which router you have look for a model number. Like Netgear or Belkin or even Virginmedia most of the time its on the back and have some numbers and letters. once you have that post back.

Re: IPad 2 help
Na worrys, same here:
what you need to do is go to your web browser and type in the address for the router typically netgear use http://192.168.0.1 this will take you to the admin page of the router.
the default login details are :User name: admin Password: password (that is if no one has changed it or if its a SKY unit the password will be sky)
Skip any setup wizards that may come up.
Look for Wireless settings (used to be on the left hand side) > Change the Wireless channel to any of the ones I have posted above. (which ever works best)
Now look for Mode and set it only to G.
Choose Apply and if there is another Apply button at the bottom choose that, Close your browser (you may be disconnected from the router at this stage simply reconnect.
try the Ipad If its still have trouble staying connected try a different channel.
If any of the details above look different or having trouble getting to the admin page post back and I could do it for you over remote connection if wish...! Hope it Helps

Re: IPad 2 help
Hi Lynne
Sounds like its been set to the max setting for most computers but I have noticed some times N settings (150Mbps) can be flakey with the iPads, Change the mode to 802.11g or it may say something different like 54Mbps and set the channel to say 6 in the middle.. See how that go's if still not good change the channel to 11.
Post back how you get on.

Re: IPad 2 help
Have just bought one of these today as the last thing we got was useless and we ended up taking it back. Hubby is currently on the bed trying to fathom it out, should be OK with him though.
Just read through this link thinking how long will it be until he is screaming at it.
