Re: Cat "murdered" by a SBT
One or two of the earlier comments were ludicrous, but at least there were a couple on there who addressed the situation sensibly!
I feel sorry for the guy whose cat died. But he didn't witness what happened & only 'thinks' that the attack was by a stafford! It could have been any dog or even a fox - it could even have been low life scum who think it's fun to torture an animal to death.

That thought had crossed my mind too DirtyElegance, its all assumptions that it was a Staffie, just seems that News Shopper is trying to continue its hate campaign towards certain dogs. It could have easily been a fox that attacked the cat, they have been known to attack people in the past.
just a comment there that's worth thinking about

Murder is a purely humanised term.
Cats are prey animals to some carnivores. If he was so worried about his precious pedigree kit, he should have kept it indoors.
I can bet you about 50%, it was a dog that killed it, but it wasn't no stafford.

He says his cat was known for keeping the mice population down. Sounds like MOUSE MURDERING to me.
Mamacat went missing last summer, as did about 4 other local cats, just as we began to see foxes all over the place. We hope that it was a case of someone thought she was as beautiful a cat as we did and took her in, rather than the foxes getting her

Re: Cat "murdered" by a SBT
I think its all a load of tosh to be fair. It could have been any dog and there are small dogs out there that have a very high prey drive and will attack anything, even dogs bigger than they are ( little dog syndrome I call it).
If I had a pedegree cat no way would I have it outside like that........and also all the pedegree cats I have ever known don't mouse or rat anyway.
As an animal lover I do feel sorry for the guy and his family to lose a loved family pet but I don't think it's very fair to blame a staff......and the comment about staffy owners not being responsable owners ( I know it was not worded like that but that's what was inlpied) is stupid and very blinkered. It's a small minority that are complete muppets and want their staff to be "hard dogs" (even that comment makes me laugh as my staff would rather lay on the sofa snoring than even nip something, she wont even play fetch for gods sake) But hey.......it's their problem if they think like that not ours

To be honest, I doubt it was even a dog! That sort of damage is rare with a dog attack. Usually they'll shake it around & kill it & maybe worry it a bit, but that's all. Very few dogs would actually rip the cat apart like that - a fox, maybe because they will get a killing 'frenzy'.

That is very true. Most domestic dogs, even though very capable of doing that kind of damage, normally don't know how to do it. If the cat just had a snapped neck and a few puncture wounds then it could have been a dog.

Re: Cat "murdered" by a SBT
you can't call it murder in the animal world... you let your cat out of the confines and safety of your home - then you risk it being killed by a stray dog/fox/car/truck...
is the truck driver a murderer if he runs over your cat and its guts comes out?

How can they say it was SBT when they don't know what killed it? What a bunch of morons!

Once again, it's the anti-stafford & anti-dog brigade making stupid comments. Unfortunately there are brain dead morons who listen to them!

Re: Cat "murdered" by a SBT
I keep my cats inside because there are a few local dogs that hate cats , even my three dogs who have spent years living with cats would still chase a cat outside of the house. Poor wee cat but if it's out roaming free you take the chance that anything can happen. Looks like the guy just wanted his chance of appearing in the paper

Re: Cat "murdered" by a SBT
I find it hard to believe since Scarlett loves bella (my cat) and doesn't bat an eyelid at cats roaming out side in fact she submits to cats it's just plain ignorance to blame a SBT for it!
