Bruce is Tiny
Hi Guys
Bruce is now 13 weeks old and he is still very small, He seems to be Half the size of the other staffies i have seen his age, He is eating very well 3 times a day and he has been wormed about 2 weeks ago, but he only weighs in at 4.5kg, and he only stands 9 inches from paw to shoulder . has anyone else had a staffie so small?
All said and done tho we love him very much no matter how big he grows, just curious tho

no idea mate... I am waiting for my little girl to come tomorrow.. she is almost 9 weeks... everything to be discovered yet..
But as you just said... as long as he is healthy and loved.. it does not really matter!

Re: Bruce is Tiny
my lemmy is only a little man he's the same size now as he was when he was about 9 or 10 months old. they are all shapes and sizes and the smaller ones fit on your knee better any way

Re: Bruce is Tiny
doesnt he look adorable !
As above - they grow at different rates, so long as he has a healthy appetite I wouldnt worry. He looks in proportion etc.
Also there are small/medium/large staffys.
My friend has a 14 yr old [yep 14!]red staffy who is TINY - my Diesel is only 11 months old but stands about 2 inches taller and 2 inches longer.

Re: Bruce is Tiny
ruby only weighed 4.5kg at 9 months when we rescued her
theses are after 1 week with us
[img:3a68]https://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr136/mints-01/ruby%20murfy/wk1.jpg[/img:3a68]
these are couple months down the line
and finally now 3 years later
she only measures 14inches shoulder to floor and weighs 12.4kg
dont think at 4 she will get any bigger

Re: Bruce is Tiny
At 13 weeks, 9 inches doesn't sound too small to me - maybe the other staff pups you have seen have been too big? A full grown staff (according to the breed standard) should only be about 15" & 15 kilos, so he's probably not as small as you think!
He looks gorgeous, by the way!

Re: Bruce is Tiny
He looks solid and very healthy to me. Romeo is 14 inches tall and stopped growing in height at six months. There is a staffy I know of whose the absolute spit of him but even smaller at 12 inches; he's eight months now so I don't think he's going to grow much taller. I once also met a very small staffy female that was only about 11 inches. These staffies are both kc reg and good looking, solid dogs, they just happen to come in under breed standard height just like some end up over.he only stands 9 inches from paw to shoulder
If both his parents were 14-16 inches tall then he should reach that size too. He's not undersized; people have this impression of staffies being these big, mastiff-y dogs because they see the big jaws and muscles out of context but they're only wee little terriers that don't reach our knees!
There's also a lot of unsavoury types passing off imitation pitbull mongrels as 'staffy crosses' or just plain staffy which gives people a false impression.
Also Apollo, Your Ruby is the absolute clone of Romeo's mum, just the ears are slightly more pricked. Same height and everything!

Re: Bruce is Tiny
Sraffies arent the biggest of dogs my Lemmy is 15 inches tall he was 15 inches a at around 9 months and he still is now he is 15 months. I dont think he's going to grow any more. They are all different sizes ans shapes and if I remember right the norm for the breed is 15 - 18 inches tall fully grown and they will continue growing till theyre around 3 years old so you won't really know how big your dog is untill he's grown any way so dont worry about it you have a beautiful little dog he's a cutie so just enjoy.
