what shall I use to carry her home?
what shall I use to collect my new girl next fri?
she will be 8 weeks by then... or slightly more..
I will go and get her by Tube... so.. was wondering what should I use.
As she is not vaccinated yet, I will need to keep her safe.
Was thinking Carton box with paper and an old warm blanket.... like the sheep skin I used in my daughter's pram...
Any idea?
Just because I do not even know what size to expect.. I saw her 10 days ago and she was tiny....
Let me know...
thanks a lot

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
You could use a cat basket with lots of blankets? Also might be worth taking a blanket that was the pups mum/litter mates.
TBH I'm not too sure how big they are that age either!!

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
If you don' t have a cat/dog carrier, it sounds fine to me as long as she can't get out in transit
I used a cardboard box, with a stackable plastic box inside, littered with blankets with my smell on

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
8 weeks old will still be a very small staffy. make sure you have a collar and lead for pup and a nice big blanket that you can wrap him in!

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
thanks for your suggestions..
I have been told to get the dog first and then the collar/harness leash... since a) is too small to be out/ not vaccinated
b) I do not know the size of her neck etc.
I see youtube video of 8wk old pups.... some are huge!!! some look still like a small baby ... any idea what average size/weight will she be?

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
Can't help there! Thought they where all small!
When you do get a collar its a good idea to let her wear it around the house so she gets used to it

Good advice Janey
Thank you!!!
Do you guys think that if I just get a very warm blanket and keep her on me as a baby, would that be too stressful? I could cuddle her a lot.... but then... maybe she could pee etc.... no... not smart my idea....
Will figure it out!
Ciao
Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
Lol, she may also wriggle and you don't want to drop her! Have you seen a pic, then you can determine if she will fit in a carrier, better still get a friend to drive you rather than using the tube, then she could be on your lap

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
i agree with getting someone to drive u when i picked up chester it was a 2 hour drive back and my daughter (aged 20) had chester on her lap wrapped in a blanket he sleeped all the way home its to much for there brains to deal with and they usually shut down when we got home he was really excited but you just need to be calm thoughout

I just got a pic of her... shot yesterday.
How do I post it here?
I can't see the "upload" button....
So you might guess what size she is...

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
You need to open a www.photobucket.com account
Upload your photos to there (its free but can be slow)
Once uploaded find the img code of that particular photo
Copy the img code and paste it here in the thread

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
Here she is.. 8week in few days...
what's your opinion on her?
Does she look normal staffy to you? I am not interested in having a pure breed one... but since we got told she is... just curiosity.. her parents are staffy but hard to say whether they are pure ones too.
Anyway.. what size does she look like?
Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
She's very cute, without papers she could well be a x so there build will differ.
Moo was 10 mnths ish when I got her and I've forgotten the puppy days! I bet your excited

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
What a cute pup! she is gorg
Too give you a rough idea on how big she may be bare in mind not all pups are same lol, she dont have papers either ... this is my skye at 7weeks in a medium size crate.
When i picked her up we had the car so we just took a blanket and bought her home that way .. Vinnie was bought home in a box in the car as my step dad got him as a suprise for us on his lunch break at work so he was in the office at work for a few hours in his big box before he came home lol.
Carry cage is a good idea

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
adorable... wow... thanks for the pics... a nice idea on how to set up a crate.
I also have a mid size one... and folded a Vet bed, will put a blanket and some toys.
We have been told not to leave water at night... but give her as soon as we wake up... is it ok? perhaps is not make her drink too much at night and pee all over...
opinion?

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
she soon outgrew that size crate! haha she is One 2moz and is in a Xlarge!.
Yep we only left water for her during the day, we took water away from her half an hour before bed because they have such tiny bladders they cant go very long without having a wee.
During the day they will drink alot and pee alot its almost like as soon as it goes in it comes out
We also removed the puppy pad from the cage after the photo as we didn't want her thinking oh i can go the toilet in my bed and moved it to a certain area

Re: what shall I use to carry her home?
As long as she can stand up sit/lye down and turn around it all depends on the size of your dog .. also some sizes will say Medium and its just about the same size as small etc .. different places do different sizes .. the one in the pik was from a warehouse where as the one she has now was offline and alot better quality and size lol, all depends where you get them

thx everyone again...
I solved the problem of taking her home...
the owner of the 2 parents of my puppy is taking her by car to my flat.....
nice of him...
I textd him earlier asking for some advice and he offered to come over.
Sweet!
So... happy days...
Thursday night my baby will be home!
good night
