A year ago today...
A 9.0 earthquake hit mainland Japan and I was basically living at work for the next 4 months. This year I on vacation and relaxed as can be. What a difference a year makes.

Wow. Glad you were ok. That sort of thing helps put things in perspective I think.

I think I'm the only one on here from Japan. It was a very trying time for me.

Were you very close to any of the disaster areas? You mention living at work

It doesn't seem possible that it was a year ago. The time has gone quickly.

I truthfully could not imagine, what it was like, or what it would be like to go through something of that sort. It was hard enough losing everything we lost to a fire of our apartment building. I could not imagine a natural disaster. Glas you are ok jstaff, and things are hopefully looking better for you this year, and all around things are rebuilding.

Must have been a very distressing ordeal for for you j. Have you lived there all your life ? I've always been fascinated by earthquakes .. went to a Natural History Museum in London once, they had a section in there where this little room was made up to shake and give you the effects of an earthquake.
One hit in England a few years ago, you could have felt it not far from me, but I think I was probably sleeping. Mind I am glad I was, if I had felt the little effect, I would probably be worried for the rest of my life knowing that I felt it and knowing it could happen again.

No I grew up in the US but have lived here for about 5 years or so and plan on trying to stay at least 5 more if not longer

Oh of course the japanese tsumunami happened! I've always wanted to go to Japan and I love Japanese culture, I was really upset for the people and I mean that truly not this bleeding heart newspaper sentimentality that we have to the news.
I remember us talking about it at work (was really an apprentice scheme) saying how we couldn't believe how much it was still snowing there-not only did they have an earthquake/tsunami but a really long, cold winter as well!
I remember when we had the 5 second earthquake here. I was drawing on my bed and then I was like -wait..did the house just move? I thought i had drunk too much!
Found out the next day there had been an earthquake!
