wrinkle bajinkle
I have noticed that red staffies seem to be more wrinkly then other colours. Is this an optical illusion caused by light colour (if so why don't white staffies look wrinkly also?) or is it some sort of bizarre side effect of red colouring?
Romeo was a very wrinkly puppy and I thought he'd grow into his skin. He's certainly grown but hes still super-wrinkly. I thought this was just another one of his bulldog features but I met a couple of other reds and they were wrinkly too, although not as much.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I slowly going crazy?
This is what I mean-all these rolls you can see is just loose skin:

Maybe he is slightly over weight? Kaos is and he has alot of wrinkles which feel like skin if u pinch them. Ty is a lean machine and has none.

Hes not over weight you can see and feel his ribs. That picture in the bright light isn't flattering you can't see any of his muscles or bones but it best illustrates the wrinkles. Its not fat honestly its just skin, like a shar pei, you can pull it away from him and pick him up by it if you have a mind to. My mum thought he was a shar pei x when we got him :S
Perhaps this picture is a better example you can really see the skin over his form. I didn't mean to post loads of pictures in this thread, sorry guys. All that bulk you can see is hard muscle.

Re: wrinkle bajinkle
Well I thought he might have a dash of bulldog as he has other bulldog features; a roach back and bowed back legs but I've seen other staffies with these features quite a lot. (Obviously not show standard) So I just assumed he was a bully type staff.maybe eons ago a sharpai was bred?
I've seen Shar pei cross staffies and unlike a lot of other staffy crosses they take on the features of the shar pei a lot more heavily, they tend to have very rectangular heads. I guess it really is a weird red thing, never seen a wrinkly brindle or anything. :s

Re: wrinkle bajinkle
Andy - Reds Rule OK! Personally I love the wrinkles. I know a very beautiful black staffie that has wrinkles to - you just have to look closer so perhaps colouring and light has something to do with it.
