Persistent Humping
Just wondered if anyone can offer any suggestions with Louis and his persistent humping of other dogs (male and female).
He goes on a group dog walk every Monday & Wednesday for a few hours but lately he has been trying to hump all the dogs, the dog walker has said that when the other dogs growl or warn him to stop he just continues and will keep trying. For his last couple of walks the dog walker has had to keep him on a lead, I’m not sure how to deal with this to be honest.
We have noticed before that when he plays with other dogs he doesn’t stop playing when they warn him to (has to be put in another room or on the lead to calm down). He just thinks it’s one big game and keeps at it. Louis gets very excited when he sees other dogs and will whimper until he gets to meet them, we have only allowed him to greet dogs once he calms down though.
Is humping other male dogs him trying to ascertain dominance? And with female dogs, is it sexual?
As we aren’t there for the group walks I don’t really know what to do. Any help or advice on why he does it would be very much appreciated.
BTW he's 9 months now

Re: Persistent Humping
The humping would normally be seen as a dominance issue. Would you be able to go on one of the walks to see for yourself what is going on??
