Funny tricks to teach your dog?
Kind of a spin off from the clicker training thread.. But what are some great tricks to teach your dog? And what tricks can your dog(s) do? Louie is my little star and he knows;
Sit, paw, high five, down, wait, spin, stand on back legs, yes please (bark on command), he can balance a treat on his nose and then catch it, and the best trick - I can pretend to shoot him, say 'BANG!' and he will fall to the floor and lie there. It's his party trick.
Tigger is only five months and being half english bull has the attention span of a flea. But he can do sit, paw, wait, down, high five and yes please. He doesn't do them every time though (stubborn little bugger) .
I'm looking for ideas for more tricks - what funny tricks do your dogs do?
Can't wait for the replies!

Your Louie can do a lot more than Moo She understands 'can't reach it' when she plays stick and its not quite close enough to me to pick it up, have tried roll over but felt like a total spoon trying to teach her that!

Re: Funny tricks to teach your dog?
I've taught Romeo a few but he won't lay down and gets really paniced if you try to slide him down or roll him over. He thinks its a punishment! He's so reluctant to roll over that when he was a puppy I was worried he had a spine problems but he rolls himself over in the grass no problem!
He knows sit, stay, wait (at kerbsides), shake hands and also high five which he stands on his hind legs for. He also knows speak but instead of saying speak I ask 'wheres batman!?' and he barks back which I think is pretty funny.

^^^^ How the hell did you teach him to fetch the toys? That's amazing! And with the roll over thing.. I don't know how to teach Louie to do that because he's too big and gets a bit nervous when I try to roll him much like Romeo

So far marley knows sit, high five, stay, ignore human, pretend i didnt hear human and Okay now im totally deaf to human tones.
Would love to teach him more as I'm sure he is capable but he is kinda aloof sometimes and looks at me like I'm an idiot. think i need to read up a bit more on trick training tips

We did it by accident really as when we play with him we would say fetch rope or ball for example so he learnt the difference between toys so we went on to purposely add colours in to, and he picked it up really quick

Re: Funny tricks to teach your dog?
my lot know
Sit, paw, down, stay, speak, leave, focus (on me),fetch (what ever i point too)
Taz also knows fetch of different items, if i say shoes he'll fetch my shoes or clothing, if i drop something he'll hand it too me, if he rips up his toys (got annoyed of cleaning up after him) so he knows fetch (what i point too) and drop in bin.
I'm currently teaching him to fetch the girls (their stubbern as heck at night)
he knows to go to go them when i say where's Cassie or Blondy, just gotta get him to grab their collar and lead them to me (also working on girls to go along with it (attached handles to collars for the night time, so it will just be like being lead on a lead)
my hearing is almost shot (or i'm sleep) he also beats me up when the door goes or house phone (can't get him to do it to my mobil yet though)
He absolutely loves being useful his whole back end wags lol

Re: Funny tricks to teach your dog?
Other than the basic commands, Dora knows paw and high five.
We can't quite get the hang of roll over.
Seems a short list... I'll have to work on some of these other ideas

Romeo will 'pretend' he can't hear me, then jump on me and give me a fright. He thinks its hilarious!ignore human, pretend i didnt hear human and Okay now im totally deaf to human tones.
That's very clever of Taz. I can't even get Romeo to wake up when someone's at the door!my hearing is almost shot (or i'm sleep) he also beats me up when the door goes or house phone (can't get him to do it to my mobil yet though)

Re: Funny tricks to teach your dog?
Ive really enjoyed teaching Diesel new things - shes a fast learner - if anything im the slacker lol !
She can do - Sit, Stay, Down, 'Where's ya tummy' , Paw, 'other paw' , Back , Wait, Stop [excellent when playing rough - she just insta stops and licks like crazy lol].
I want to try her with roll over next - but not sure how to go about it.
When we play tug - im at the point where I just have to say Leave - and she will drop it - then 'paw' and she can have it back !
When she has her food - she ALWAYS without fail automatically sits and offeres her paw - then the other one.
?Havent mastered 'fetch' yet BUT if i saw to her 'wheres ya bone?' she will go pick up her favourite blue bone toy !
Shes awesome !

Oh My lot also know backup like away from a football so if i kick it (1)it won't smack them in the head and (2) so the ball can actually move far away before they catch (their too fast.)

Hye guiltylouie. I'm currently doing clicker training with the woof and she knows most of the ones louie can do! Bang is a big favourite, and she is really good at it! I love it, she sticks her paws in the air as if begging for no more!!!! ahaha!
