L - 2 hga
First topic message reminder :
Hi,
I have a staffy puppy aged 5 months old and we have been told she may have a genetic disorder called l 2 hga. She has muscle stiffness, tremors in her back legs and tiredness - she walks like a little old lady all the time! Just wondered if anyone else out there has a staffy with the same problem as there is info about dna testing to see if a dog has it but nothing about prognosis - the vet has no clue as there is no treatment available.
Thanks

Re: L - 2 hga
so sorry to here about your pup.
and sorry you feel the forum has of been no help to you i also think all the comments have been taken the wrong way as in patronising but i can see how you could look at it in that way.
if i knew i could have avoided a situation like the one your in with just a little bit reserce into the breed which i always have when buying a new breed of dog ie health problems and conditions i would be a cit cynical when people were posting on the topic if i knew i could have avoided it.
morral of the story dont be so harsh on yourself you will have her for many years to come i dont think the condition has a great impact on length of life just quality of life.
be happy in the fact she now with a careing owner and not thown onto a dog shelter like a lot of status dog owners would do
ggggrrrrrrrr just the reason i hate byb

L2 HGA
I have a 13 month old staff called Paige diagnosed as having the genes so is infected. I just wondered if their is anyone else out their that could swop info. We were lucky enough to have insurance so have had a lot of work done. Unfortunately it has taken a long time for diagnosis as the 1 st test came back as a carrier but after the neurologist insisting something was wrong a second test confirmed her illness. I am managing her diet and giving her vitamins xx
Paige is my first dog and I love her so much its unbearable but we will get on with it xx

I'm so sorry to read this, I can't offer any advice as it isn't really anything I've had experience with.

Do you have an update?
Hi Charis
Would you mind posting an update? I know it has been a while since you posted but my staffie is showing symptoms of this disease according to our vet. She is 3 years old and only started showing symptoms about a month ago.

Hi there. Chris hasn't posted since 2012, unfortunately.
I'm so sorry to hear about your girl - have you had a DNA test to confirm L2HGA definitely?
