Is so mad!!!!

Ok ranting here! But so god help me i shall hit someone if they tell me my dog is dangerous again!!

My partners mum has voiced her opion (as has many of his family members!) about how i should get rid and just put her down because apperently she is going to cause "damage" to someone! She doesnt like me and never will so this is another thing to have a go at me about!

Anyways she took my son yesterday to stay over (as it his nana and he loves staying over at her house), but she got out the car as i was taking scarlet out to the toilet first i get the most disgusted look in the world, then she grabs my son as to say "well shes going to bite him" gets down to scarlets level pats her on the head and pushes her back for no reason! All scarlet wanted to do was say hello as it was someone new she would never ever bite anyone, she mouths but a firm no stops that and she a very loving dog and can tell already! I am very annoyed that she pushed her away as she was just saying hello!

But she then proceeds to make snide comments on facebook about staffys should be put down blah blah but i cant help it, its really getting to me and upsetting me! She has never had a bad experince with them i think shes another one of these "i believe the media people" and wont even bother to make an effort with scarlet!

She also annoyed me with the way she grabbed my son, he even knows she is an excited pup and loves her to bit mad is not the word!

rants help us blow off steam, so don't apoligize. not my place to get up in your family buisness, IMHO, people like that have already made up their mind, and are generaly logic-proof trying to talk sense into them is like talking to a brick wall hang in there

yeah tell me lol not got any family problems really just the partners mum has something against me (dont know why!) and now scarlets lets say ammo for her? lol but trying to explain that its not the breed its the owners bring them up is like talking to a brick wall lol

As long as you know the truth dont worry im sure once scarlet has grown with the family she will change her opinion. You will find a lot of people think like that but we have to change their opinions of the breed by proving them wrong (In a nice way). Stick to your guns but dont let it get you so angry with the lack of sleep your having may seem worse at the moment. Good luck

some people just don't get it ..do they. It must be so annoying that everyone seems to be so against you and your puppy..but remember WE are all on your side !!!

Mother-in-laws (well, I suppose that's what you'd call her, even if you're not married to her son!)! It worries me to think that at some time in the future I'll be one! I just hope I don't end up as blinkered as some of them are!

yeah! my patners nan has fallen head over heals for her and said she the most beautiful doggie shes seen, but her sister had a staffy so she knows how well behaved they are when brought up right

LOL that has made me chuckle! Sorry to say this but she is one silly woman. Mind you there are plenty of these silly people about. I once had a yorkshire terrier who due to having gum disease he had to have all his teeth out. He still managed to gum the postman`s leg and bruised him lol
I have had 4 staffies over the years and NEVER had a problem with any of them, it really is the way they are brought up. Just like children if you let them run wild you`re asking for trouble, but teach them right from wrong and you will have a beautiful dog you can be proud of.
Don`t worry about what anyone else thinks of your choice of dog, if they don`t like it tell them to stay away!

kathie - Well said! ahah i dunno why i told her that i just got into the mind frame insult my dog i will insult you lol but yeah like scarlets mum my best friend has brought her up so right shes such a lovely dog! and ive had abuse from people just walking by! but my landlord came round yesterday and was shocked i had a staffy cross as he didnt think i was into that type of dog and he loved her

I think the best thing you can do is get rid of the mother in law...

we all rant about all sorts of things not just the breed of our dogs. i think a lot of us on here have family member liek that and as i say. its my house the dogs lives in my house if you dont like it then the door opens both ways dont let hit you in the behind on your way out

Im lucky i havent got my mother in law (rip) any more although she didnt mind our dogs and we had a staff collie x and a gsd at the time which then turnned into 2 gsds lol

Eugh!! how annoying id blow a fuse over it i would but that wouldnt help matters lol .. i have an aunt who is EXACTLY the same .. when we got skye she went "another staff!!?? well im not coming over again" while doing a stupid laugh .. so i turned around and said if thats the case il get 3more!!! she wasnt impressed but she does my head in lol blocked on facebook and blocked from my life i cant stand her and her hating on my dogs which she dont even know is just the icing shes never owned a dog in her life so to comment on a breed she dont know will get her ALOT of comebacks from me.

yeah its the same as my "mother in law" she has never ever owned a dog (only cats) as she doesnt like "animals" but she quite happily today spoke to my cat (she owns one too!) im not a cat lover but i love animals and my partner loves cats and bella is nice but i preffer dogs as they give you love and show how grateful they are and she has never experinced that so in my mind she shouldnt be judging me or my dog!

When Scarlet is older and fully trained and one of the best behaved dogs she will eat her own hat! .. use that as satisfaction rub her nose in how well behaved and loving etc she is

my mum has this thing about Lottie. she thinks we are stuid taking on someone elses problems and that we can never trust her etc etc blah blah blah. she said the same to my brother about his rescue border collie. some poeple ar ignorant. she can go live with my mother inlaw. i have the best mother in law. she lives in australia. which as you all will know its the other side of the world from me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, that saying goes in this situation. A dogs personality is created by it's owner, but no, they don't compare 'Man and his dog' relationships to how human children are brought up the same. Maybe you need to bite her yourself !

That said, the day someone ever says something like that to me about my dog ... they will regret it. Thankfully, the dog gets a lot of love and attention from neighbors I don't even know, and strangers passing in the street. I'm actually starting to get jealous.

I think this world is so media obbsessed they'll believe anything, i just wish people knew how loveable and loyal staffies really are. I bet if everyone in the world had a staffy for a day they would completley change their minds

Well, my wife's side of the family pretty much all feels the same way. Was quite a drama for a while but now most just don't come over and probably never will. My wife's folks though have stopped saying anything at all as they want to still have access to the grandkids. Don't really talk to my sister-in-law or her a$$&0le husband. Maybe Julies mother in law wants all our silly relatives to live with her?

ahaha i have bitten back a few times when she has said she was vicious, before i even got her! but to make matters worse my friends are now saying they dont want to come because of her! if my partner who was attacked by a staffy has now come to love them i think anyone can!

Your great comeback has made me laugh. We dont have any problems with Casey as she has been in the family for ages so everybody knows how lovely she is. Just tell her, your son has absolutely no problem whatsever and show her this without letting her intervene. Also maybe teach Scarlet a really impressive trick to show her!
