Introducing Ali, 10mths

Said my first hello ls nite but did it in the wrong place, still trynna find my way around here, but absolutley LOVING this forum. Topics n tips are invaluable, and some of the stories have me , but everything makes me even happier to have rescues my Staffy X (think its with a pitbull). Hes with me 3 days now and already has my heart for life

Hi Anne , welcome from myself and Tilly Please tell me as I'm really curious . How is the perception of Staffs / Staff X's in Dublin. I'm in Switzerland at the moment with a customer from Limerick, conversation of dogs came up tonight over a meal and I got big blanks when I told him what breed I have. Not supposed to fall out with customers but I feel like killing this 1 already
BTW Ali looks a great boy and pleased to see the staffy genes are good , little disspointed to find out its taken a whole 3 days for the heart stealing bit , for me 30 minutes

Hi Dave and Tilly , the perception here in Dublin seems to be the same as anywhere else. Theyre either loved or hated for all the wrong reasons it seems. People's misconceptions of the breed ie their temperament, media scaremongering when ANY dog bites someone, (blame always seems to be put on the Staffy or on the pitbulls) , isn't ever gonna help that. Also a lot of peeps only see staffy x wen theyre being dragged down the street by some teenage thug who uses his dog as a satus symbol or a weapon or shield. Despite all this they are a really popular breed over here, and most of us know ,to get to know a dog before you can pin a personality trait on him. I will do all I can evrytime I walk Ali. Some people look really frightened of him as they come towards him. But theyl mostly still coment how gorgeous he is, and thats wen i try get them t say hello r rub him, and i tell them how good he is. They soon realise the most he'd do is lick them to death! He's a big softy and soon wins them over. If my Ali changes one persons mind about staffys il be a happy woman (hel change more than one mind though, guaranteed

I live near howth and he absolutely loves it down there. He gets to run free on the beach when there's no one about, tho he's afraid of the incoming tide, so funny

Oh so you and Ali are very very lucky; that's fantastic that he gets such a lovely place to go for walks!
I lived in Dublin for a while on Clontarf and I was on Howth every day, Sutton beach and the cliffs, I think I must have walked every path there...and chowder in the Summit Pub... It's great to know there are some staffies around, all the best
