Fell in the river :(
We went on a lovely walk today but we had a scary experience as hooch ended up in the river its not a big one its like a strem and most of the way was shallow further along hooch decided he wanted too get in i said to the other half looks like hooch found a way too get in not realising he was fully submerged and as we got closer i realised he had got in and couldnt get out i shouted to the other he cant get out and we both ran and the oh jumped staight in the water came up too his waist was a very scary experience hooch is ok thou thanks to my ohs fast thinking he had fully gone under the water as he was soaked all over.
Thank goodness thats over bloody dogs will be the death off me.
Stans done this before in a river which was covered in ice he went too walk on it and fell in luckyly he got out within a few mins seemed like forever thou as i was about too jump in.
So guys what are your scary dog stories.

What a horrible experience, leaves you very shaken. Moo was chasing ducks once in the lake and she just kept swimming further and further, I was calling her frantically, but selective hearing had set in and like you I was just about ready to jump in when she turned and really struggled to get back to the shore, she was shattered when I finally got her out. I don't walk there anymore

Re: Fell in the river :(
One day I was walking Millie and Casey with my older cousin at the river. We were near the car when my cousin find a golf ball. It was tiny and in case Millie and Casey grabbed it he chucked it away, unfortunately it went to tes on the other side of the river and Millie shot after it. It was winter and although the river wasnt iced just round the edges, it was freezing. We couldnt see Millie and my cousin was about to jump in when we saw Millie sheltering over a overhang. She managed to climb up the steep bank, I was crying ad screaming. And another time, she found some animal bones on a walk and she ate them and couldnt breathe but we(me and jessica) managed to get her to cough them up. Iwas terrified!!!!! I was crying and screaming!

Re: Fell in the river :(
Oh no poor Hooch. Romeo hates water and can't understand why in the country park all the labradors and springers are diving into the lakes. Twice when he was a puppy he fell in because the water was covered in green algae that looked like grass! I felt scared for him but I also couldn't stop laughing. For a heavy dog that hates water he was very good swimmer and got back to dry land in seconds!
He absolutely stunk of pond afterwards...

Exactly the same happened to me when Max jumped into a waist deep stream last year chasing a deer (I did a very similar write up on here soon after joining I think) ... wasnt nice realising I couldnt get out after lifting Max to safety ... also, it was the first time I'd worn my brand new £130 Salomon hiking boots out since buying them the day before

So scary! A similar thing happened with Saxon this fall. I was walking him next to a river and he jumped in. He sunk to the bottom! I had to pull him out by his leash, thank god he was wearing it!

Em (my OH) had to sit flat on her bum with her legs out in front of her, and reach down with a branch for me to hang onto, and I managed to do the rest (tho it was a virtical wall of stingers and brambles from down in the water ) so I was tinglin with stings and cuts for hours after
I had only just bought this particular pair of boots because of the bike accident i'd had a few months earlier, cus I needed a certain type of support with the breaks and screws in my ankle etc ... well p!ssed off
