Saxon's Eye
On Saturday Tim and I took Saxon to the beach. He had a great time getting all wet and sandy. When we got home I gave Saxon a shower and while I was cleaning his teary eyes, I noticed that he had a lot of sand in them. I tried to clean it out as best I could, but didn't want to make it worse. Yesterday his right eye was fine, but his left eye was still a bit weepy. This morning his left eye is redder than the other eye and is leaking yellow liquid.
Here you can see that his left eye is more closed than his right eye:
Here you can see the yellow seepage:
Here I pulled down the lid to show the redness:
I am getting worried, but thought I'd ask for advice on here before going to the vets. Does anyone have any advice on how to care for his eye?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Saxon's Eye
I would take a trip to the vets to get it checked. If there is something irritating his eye,or an infection starts to get in,the earlier its caught the better.Hope he is feeling better soon >< xx

Re: Saxon's Eye
I always go to the vets for an eye problem. Hope he feels better soon. Most likely the sand just irrateted his eye and he will be fine in a day or two.

Yes I would get it looked at by the vet. It looks like the eye is reacting to the sand and getting rid of it. in the meantime wash out with some warm salt water.

Re: Saxon's Eye
Thanks for all the advice. I was told by a friend that I trust to try some drops before I take him in. I've been using them today and if his eye isn't better by tomorrow afternoon (I have class in the morning that I can't miss), we're headed to the vet's.

Re: Saxon's Eye
Hoping that he is on the mend now and nothing to worry about. I have a great freind who is a vet optomologist and I ask them anything eye related straight away. Drops can help if he can get the remainder of the sand out. If not, he most likely will have to have a flush done at the vets. Sand at the beach can have all sorts of "stuff" in it so hope it just works it's way out.

Re: Saxon's Eye
It is looking much better, I'm thinking there must have been some San left in it or something. I'll continue to watch it, but it appears to be healing!
