Still got the suirts
Elwood STILL has runny poo He has had Kaolin Paste from the vets and has been on rice and fish for the past few days but the only improvement is the colour; gone from bright yellow to dark green. At wits end with it all as he has pooped in the house again early hours this morning. He is happy and wants to go for walks etc. Any ideas on what else I can do? The vet says he hasnt got any infection nor a temperature.

Re: Still got the suirts
I have posted this before but thought it may help you also.
I can sympathise with you and it may help you to know that your not totally alone.
When I rescued Moo she was haveing diareah overnight every night, I was at my wits ends, as I am sure you are. I took her to the vets so many times and her healh tested for everything, but to no avail as every test came back clear.
This went on for weeks and I was so tired of waking up at 3/4 in the morning cleaning up poo off a carpet, and the smell was terrible!
I ended up covering the bathroom with newspaper and just had to put a baby gate over the door so at least it was easy to clean overnight.
During this time I swapped over her diet to royal canin sensitivity contol food wet/dry mix, which basically is just chicken and rice. It helped so so much, and after a few months of being on this her poo still wasn't perfect, but better.
After a few months I swapped her over to a all dry diet, which again improved things, and after nearly 3 years I have got her on fish4dogs, which seems to suit her perfectly.
I know this isn't a solution, but just thought it might help that your not alone, and time and finding the food that suits will improve things in the long run.

Re: Still got the suirts
Thanks Janey, I called the vet agin a few minutes ago and they want to see him later. They said that by now the paste he had should have cleared this up at least a bit. He`s not in the mood for anything this morning and is very quiet in his bed. I`ll see what they say later on xx

Poor fella. There's obviously something going on there, isn't there?
Please let us know what the vet says. What sort of tests (if any) have the vets carried out?

Hey Caryll, not done any tests yet, but we`ll see what the vet says in a bit. I got a feeling a big bill is coming my way!! Pet insurance doesn`t kick in until 14 days.

Re: Still got the suirts
Elwood has been to the vets. They said that he`s not got a temp, no infection etc. They are not worried about him as he is alert, playful and wanting to go to walks. Got to give him his normal food from now on (Lathams). It could be because he`s a bit stressed from kennels and being in a new home environment, and the runnies could possibly go on for a couple of weeks.

Happened to me hun. Big hugs and we're here when you need to vent.
I personally would try swapping foods, from my own experience, but I'm not a vet Xx

He has just started on this food only yesterday, so I think I`ll keep on with it for a while. Hopefully he`ll be ok in a few days.
