The Red Setter of DOOM
A few weeks ago as I was leaving the park I saw a little old lady holding onto a very large red setter that came up to her waist. She was just standing there, with the afformentioned dog. Romeo wagged his tail as we walked up to the dog and I smiled at her and said
'Can he say hello? He's friendly.'
The woman just looked at me like i'd sprouted devil horns with a mouth pursed like she was sucking lemons and didn't say a word. As we walked past the setter, Romeo sniffed noses and the setter errupted into a storm of growling and snarling and tried to bite him. Romeo looked shocked and backed away.
Yesterday I exit the park to see, to my dismay, the same old lady and setter standing there. I couldn't cross the road because it was very busy. I smiled at the woman, again I got a look of utter contempt.
As we walked towards the setter Romeo went absolutely mental snarling like a lion and trying to get at it. It took both hands to hold him back from the setter. Its a good job he was wearing a harness with a short lead.
The woman didn't even bother to move out my way or pull her dog so it was standing on her far side. In fact what with me trying to walk round them both with a wide berth, Romeo swung out into the busy road and narrowly avoided a car. A man walking opposite with two lapdogs looked shocked at my sterotypical snarling, angry staffy.
Do you think that woman is deaf, utterly stupid or a demon in disguise that lures in wait with her soft looking but secretly aggressive dog to lure innocent owners and their pets to their untimely doom?!
Why the hell didn't she move and look at me like I was muck on her shoe?! I don't blame Romeo for getting angry, I know what hes like and he has a long memory.

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
Cant stand the bloody things ... I had to try to fend one off that was off lead (despite me saying mine wasnt dog freindly before hand), and trying to bite my last staffys ham strings while he kept spinning round on the lead to get at it ... that was fun I can tell ya
I couldnt afford to let Zac get a clean go at it cuss he wouldve made a right mess, but the damn thing just kept trying to bite at his rear legs ... in the end I had no choice but boot this setter to get him away, as the stupid owner was just stood there ... useless!

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
i've seen it too many times. some hateful, stuck-up person's dog starts something and the dog's owners can't be bothered. maybe the idiots who do that just can't see what's happening, what with their noses so high in the air!

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
@the goat comment!
I don't know why she has this dog, its far too big for her, and why does she just stand in the middle of the pavement? I've never seen her walk anywhere she just stands.
Maybe shes gone senile.
I'm very lucky Romeo isn't dog aggressive, he's only aggressive to dogs that have had a pop at him in the past. Very sensible for a dog I think

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
people and dog walkers constantly cross the road when they see me coming, 28 year old young man with tattoos all the way up one arm and a staffy, makes me really want to say something but i never do

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
In reply to your original question I would say probably all of the above. Some people just have no consideration for others at all. Just put it down to their ignorance. They are not worthy of your time worrying about them.

Re: The Red Setter of DOOM
people tend to judge you, that because you look this way or have this kind of dog you must be bad news. they think because you have a bully breed you must be below them. i dont mind gun dogs, or some of their owners. BUT, bloody heck some can be right As*holes.
I wouldnt give her the time of day really, just walk past her briskly, if he's going to suck lemon, let her do it by herself.
