Vlad's first day away from home Empty Vlad's first day away from home

My husband and I went to Melbourne yesterday, so Vlad had to go to a pet boarding place for a night. We dropped him off yesterday morning at about 10am. We picked him up today at 4pm. He apparently was very well behaved! He is very excitable, but got along with the other dogs and was very friendly with the staff Big Grin PHEW! The best thing is he has seemed to come back quite calm! When we saw him he ran straight to my husband and then to me and before he got in the car he gave me a big cuddle. He came home and ran straight into the back yard and is now out there just enjoying his space again! Very Very Very relieved! I was almost crying yesterday when we left because he started crying and we could hear him yelping. But all went well, so next time I will not be so nervous Big Grin

Good to know. I have to go out of town for a few days two weeks in a row on business and I hate the thought of being without my boys. Always nice to know they are doing well as it eases the pain. Hope you both had a good time as well!

Thanks Smile We had a great time! I kept checking my phone to make sure there were no messages or missed calls LOL. I will be happy to leave them with this place, they walk them, they have a HUGE dog run with separate parts so no dog is together but they can still interact. They said Vlad was always up for a cuddle and a play... which is true! I am happy he's home. Amazing how much we missed him!

I agree! Thanks for the offer Meg Big Grin We should definitely get Russ and Vlad to play! I'm very happy that he gets along with other dogs and interacts well with people! I'll have to find a way to give you my contact details as I don't have any Facebook or twitter.

at least now you have peace of mind that he will be a little star next time he has to go to boarding kennels.

We couldn't bear to go to South Australia to see my family and leave Jethro behind ,so he has flown over with us three times ( at great expense! ( Don't know what we will do now we have the 2 boys. ( probably NOT go to South Australia ! ) My family will have to come over to see us now ! Smile

It was very strange... he seems to have calmed down literally overnight! (He will disprove this theory later I guess, but for now...) It's like he suddenly appreciates us LOL. When we usually let him in of an evening, he runs around like an idiot before settle on my lap on the floor for a cuddle then he goes to his crate for the night.... Last night he just casually wandered over to me, plonked on my lap and just stayed there for his cuddle, then he just got up and went to bed! Maybe he was tired, but he has NEVER done that before!

Ohhh and the other thing, when we went to pick him up, we realised how little he still is! To us he looks like a boof head and he seems to be getting really big and filling out nicely (I know, I know... I am going to try and get some photos today!) but in the kennels next to all the other dogs, he really still is tiny and still has his puppy face even though his head is changing and getting bigger! However, the closest companions in the kennel were: a fully grown boxer, a grey hound cross, a lab and (this was massive!) a mastiff cross rottweiler! Our Vlad looked like a miniature dog compared to them!

Thanks, me too! I was quite nervous the couple of days leading up to it and also checking my mobile the entire time we were away! LOL. Very nervous mum!

Glad things went well. I know the first time we left daisy with a place over night, it was terrible....we went to another town was told the motel was pet friendly, turned out they werenot so we quickly found a place that had been reccomended by someone elses friend, I was terrible....we walked in, they showed up around, showed us the "suite" Daisy would be in, Daisy went it and layed on bed they had made out, looked at us with those sad eyes, I lost it, I had to walk away cause i was crying like a baby. I was calling every hour to see if things were going ok with her. They finally asked me to quit calling so often she is doing just fine. when we went back the next day to pick her up, they sad she was the best she played great with everyone else had a nap, treat before bed after dinner. we could watch her online in her suite, and all. they also gave us a report card. and said anytime we are back in town just bring her by even if it's just for a hello!
