wiping feet
right heres one for you all to tell me the reason behind it. i have had boy dogs before but none have ever done this. matthew says its aterritory thing but surely he doesnt claim every place he goes. after a wee or poo Lemmy will look like he's wiping his feet or trying to bury it or just digging a bit if you get my drift theres no other way to describe it. WHY !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: wiping feet
Millie started doing that about a year ago. Usually it's after a wee she will sort of kick up the grass with her back feet. It does look like an over enthusiastic foot wipe I was told it was marking territory as well but she only started doing it around the time she turned 3 yrs.

Moo does it occasionlly and I have no idea why! Like today she did it every wee, but she hasn't done it in months! Tis a mistery to me!!

Re: wiping feet
Suki does this as well. I always thought it was to cover the scent but I'm not really sure

now covering the scent is a plauible idea but then Lemm headed to cover his scent at the moment he would welcome anything to come and challenge his right to be there.

Re: wiping feet
I think its just ritual like we wash our hands after going to lav, wouldn't want to think one had accidentally stood in it and had it on our feet would we , it's the sign of personal pride

Re: wiping feet
Yeah Max does it REALLY hard, you have to get outa the way cus he will cover you in clods of earth and god knows what if your behind him
I think you'll find they are sent marking, and then the "foot wiping" is intended to cover the sent that was already there left by others. Where we live, there a lot of fox's, and I have noticed their droppings appeared where Max likes a wee, and visa versa, they are trying to be the dominant sent in that place

Re: wiping feet
Violet does it after a poop, it used to be little kicks, but now it's like she's taking a backwards penalty.
I didn't realise other dogs did it too - I thought she'd just seen the cat doing it.

Re: wiping feet
Tyson does the same but only after a poo. Never really wondered about it just always thought this is normal.
