ever had asbestos removed from their home before?Im getting a new boiler because the one i have is ancient, but they did an asbestos test and found out the boiler cupboard has asbestos in it,so they are comming next wednesday to remove it.Me and Cairo have to be sealed up inside the living room while they remove it and they could be here for about 6 hours

Re: Has anyone
my mum had her boiler in the cupboard in the hall and the hall was sealed off and plastic sheeting put every where. obviously yuou cant stay in the same room for hours is there a neighbour or anyone you could go to for the day to get out of the way or maybe ask the guys if they could make you a path to the door so the dog can go pee.

No chance. The boiler is near all the doors, including the front door i dont like to leave the house unattended to be honest, thats why were being confined to the living room.Im hoping they wont take too long, but the guy said once they have removed it,they have to wait for someone else to come along to test everything and make sure its clear if cairo has to pee i have those puppy pads to use as a last resort.Dont really want her to go in the house but if they take longer than expected then she will have to wee somewhere.

Re: Has anyone
It depends on what sort of asbestos it is. If it's the blue stuff (or so I'm told) it has to be removed by a licenced contractor. They will have to take out & seal all the asbestos they find, and vacuum all around before anybody is allowed near the area again. Depending on how much there is, and how easy it is to get to, it could take anything from 1 hour to a full day!

I would be leaving the house for at least a day or so! After its all been removed it will need time to settle the dust and then need some SERIOUS hoovering with masks and the like.

If the contractors are licensed they will do all of that! They have ways of damping it down so that the dust doesn't get into the air.
