Owners of Two Bitches
Hi all,
So, I am a first time Staffy owner and I'm loving it, I have 2 beautiful 10 month old red bitches called Agatha & maddi, and I have never known such loving dogs. I am not a first time dog owner and i have rigorous with training, feeding, socialising etc.
The pups have shown no signs of aggression but a lot of people have said flippantly that "they will tear each other apart" when they got older... which obviously has me concerned. The girls interact very well with each other, and the 2 cats in the house too, but I would like some reassurance from owners of 2 bitches... My girls are litter mates too, if that helps on advice....
looking forward to hearing your experiences....

Hello and welcome from me and billy
I have only one dog as well, they do say that 2 of the same sex are not good and especially if they are from the same litter. But it could work and someone will be along soon who can give more information

Re: Owners of Two Bitches
Hi and welcome from me, Millie and Bella
I have two girls but my situation is a little different. One is 4yrs old, the other 5 months and they are different breeds. They get on well with the odd little disagreement but I do keep them apart when I'm not around just to be on the safe side.

Re: Owners of Two Bitches
Hi and welcome from us and Suki. Dogs from the same litter sometimes don't get along well espically if they are of the same sex. That's not true in every instance though. It really depends on the dogs and their tempermants.
I would definately advise to keep them seperated if they are going to be left alone just to be safe. Small disagreements that you can easily correct when you are there can turn into something very serious if they are left alone.

Re: Owners of Two Bitches
Welcome! I firmly believe that there are things that are generally good guidelines like anything else. Like jstaff says, it can work depending on your specific girls. I would think that generally speaking, it wouldn't be a great idea to get two of the same sex from the same litter, but there will be those that are perfectly fine as well. It just is a increased likelihood of potential problems (think smoking and lung cancer or drinking and liver disease). The incidence of trouble rises with each factor, but is not guarantedeed to happen. I have two boys about a year appart in age that adore eachother. It can work and every dog is different. You have to know your dogs. I would say that you need to continue to be careful as 10 months old is still not a mature dog and they will continue to change. However, it is a good sign that nothing bad has happened yet. Just have to be more careful than a 1 dog person might (really goes for any multiple dog family though). Love to see pics!

Re: Owners of Two Bitches
Welcome to the forum from me and my girls Kita & Izzy
I can only give my experience with two. My older girl Kita is 15 years old this Saturday and spent the majority of her life with males (Bull Mastiff & JR). When we lost the JR she was almost 13. She was not coping as so we got Izzy, a 9 week old pup that was not wanted by her owner.
Apart from the first 2 days when Kita snubbed her, they get along like a house on fire. Not sure if it's because of the age difference or not.
These days all Kita wants to do is sleep and is only interested in playing when we are around and I feel sorry for Izzy.

Thank you!
Hi all, just getting my head round navigating the site. Thanks for all the welcomes, and the advice. I'm determined to be a role model for same sex/age staffies can get along. We are very lucky that the pupplets are very rarely alone together. Which makes it easier and on the rare occasions they have been we get back to find them snoring together! Looking forward to getting to know you all... Photo's to follow x
