The Flirtpole
Hello people,
I was looking for toys and such like for my 6 month old female, Tia. Who is a toy wrecking machine lol.
Anyway I started looking at a Pitbull site and found various ideas for toys.
I came across a "Flirtpole" and had no ide what it was, its basically this :
So anyway I built my own version and Tia really loves it and I must say it really tired her out. Which our miles of walking never manages.
Just thought I woulkd share this and see if anyone else uses these?
Thanks

Re: The Flirtpole
They're great exercise as long as they're set up properly so that the dog's back feet can touch the ground. Otherwise they can pull or tear tendons because they never know when they're tired!

Re: The Flirtpole
Yeah well i just hold it in my hand, I see there is a spring pole thing that can be hanged from trees etc. I havent tried that yet.

Re: The Flirtpole
All my dogs are working dogs so I use flirtpoles as well, as well as springpoles.
but these are great to build chase and prey drive. Kong toys work well for Staffords as well :3

Re: The Flirtpole
I was pretty sceptical about the "Flirtpole" idea but she just loved it and it cost me nothing to build which is always a bonus lol.

Re: The Flirtpole
Hmmm I have wanted to get a spring pole for Suki but don't have the room and this looks like a decent alternative. How did you make yours?

Funny you say that, that was my thought lol.
I made mine with a mop handle with a hole drilled in the end of it and fed a length of rope through the handle and attached a ball/toy to other end, thats it and she loves it so much.
Never seen her so excitied lol

Re: The Flirtpole
Been using one of these for Jimi for a while, he loves it. I wouldn't have your dog doing too many jumps with it right now though.
I'm making a Springpole pole for Jimi once he's a year old.

Re: The Flirtpole
I had a similar toy that I got my cats for Christmas. I was moving it about and the cats were doing flips and such trying to get it. Saxon came out of nowhere and started playing right along, lol! I was thinking of making a more sturdy one for Saxon!

Re: The Flirtpole
Good job. Flirt poles are great. I also have a springpole set up but Frosty is too young for it. Best to wait on that till 18 months or so.

Re: The Flirtpole
Err sorry, never heard of this. Please tell me more like what it consists of and how you use it. Can I make one?

Re: The Flirtpole
Yes you can make it. Essentially it is like a fishing pole for the dog with rope that they can grab and tug. This is why the handle has to be very sturdy for a fellow like Ty. Go on YouTube and search flirtpole and you will get a better idea.

As I said further up, I made one in like 5 mins. I also posted a pic but I suppose it could be done better than the way I did it.

Mainly, agility.
Kellev was tracking as well, y'know, for fun and we did a little with Junior.
Junior is training (stress the training, it's a little awkward to find anyone who will accept a staffy) in Flyball,
But June does weight pull and springpole with agility on the side and just the odd jog...he's also my lawnmowers and footwarmer.
He has a hard life XDD

wow your dogs have their paws in a bit of everything i'd love to train Romeo for ability when he's older
Re: The Flirtpole
They usually just tell you what they like to do :3 I think Romeo would be an EXCELLENT working dog, he sounds huge already
Trust me, try not to get him in the habit of mowing the lawn...the results may be undesirable.
