My deaf staffy is generally well behaved and obedient ..he is a rescue dog whom I have had for two months now and he is a year old...when he is out playing or walking on our local nature reserve I have to either chase him or hope he turns round to get eye contact so that I can give him the return command...Is the answer a vibrating collar or do you have any other ideas my friends..

Sorry, got no solution for you. I am having the same problem and my x staffie is NOT deaf. I am teaching him recall with a whistle and reward system which works great when there is no other distraction. But when he is running towards other people and other dogs (always just to say hello and play) he goes completely deaf.

I just dont know what the next step is, so will be interested in seeing what replies you get. Good Luck Smile

I met someone in the park with a deaf white boxer, she used a vibrating collar to attract it's attention or she stamped her feet if the dog was closer. She said she was teaching it to look at her regularly so it could see her hand signals
